Regular Season Round 28: Ashdod - Rishon 66-93

Date: April 22, 2019
9th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (11-17) was outscored at home by eighth ranked Rishon (13-15) with the biggest margin this round 93-66 on Monday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maccabi Ashdod. Rishon looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Maccabi Ashdod's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Diamon Simpson (204-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and the former international swingman Adam Ariel (192-94) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Rishon players scored in double figures. At the losing side Kosovan center Lis Shoshi (211-94, college: UALR) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Josh Carter (201-88, college: Texas A&M) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rishon moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Nes-Ziona. Loser Maccabi Ashdod keeps the ninth position with 17 games lost. Rishon will face Ironi Nahariya (#11) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
