They outrebounded Al Mina 49-26 including a 36-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international center Mohammed Al-Khafaji (206-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Rashad Woods (197-86, college: Kent St.) chipped in 25 points. Al Shurtah's coach Maher Khanfir used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American point guard Jeffery Stubbs (189-91, college: Jackson St.) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 6 assists and the former international power forward Mohammed Mahdi (202-80) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds.
