Regular Season Round 5: T71 - Contern 82-79

Ninth-ranked Contern (1-4) made lots of trouble for leader T71 (5-0) in Dudelange on Sunday. T71 managed to secure only three-point victory 82-79. However their fans expected much easier game. T71 outrebounded Contern 54-29 including a 20-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Jimmie Taylor (193-1994, college: Rider) who scored 31 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Joe Kalmes (200-1995) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Taylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four T71 players scored in double figures. American swingman Tyler Cartaino (198-1996, college: Chaminade) produced 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Clay Guillozet (193-1997, college: Valdosta St.) added 25 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. T71 have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Contern at the other side keeps the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with Heffingen and Musel Pikes. T71 are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Soleuvre (#12) in Belvaux in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Contern will play at home against Grengewald and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
