Aris - Monaco 62-65

A very interesting game took place in Thessaloniki. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 3rd placed Greek Aris (4-3) to second ranked French Monaco (6-1) 65-62 on Tuesday evening. The guests were ahead by 7 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 19-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Aris helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Bulgarian point guard Dee Bost (188-89, college: Mississippi St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Ghanian-French Billy Ouattara (191-92) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Serbian-Greek forward Vladimir Jankovic (202-90, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and American Michael Jenkins (193-86, college: Winthrop) added 20 points in the effort for Aris. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Monaco used an opportunity after Banvit BK lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position in Group A. Aris lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with three games lost. Monaco's next round opponent will be Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#6) in Frankfurt which should be theoretically an easy game. Aris will play at home against Helios and hope to win that game.

Very expected game in Balikesir where 8th ranked Danish Bakken (1-6) was defeated by first ranked Turkish Banvit (6-1) 99-82 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Banvit. Bakken was better in third quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Banvit forced 19 Bakken turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for guard Can Mutaf (190-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 4 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. CB Canarias defeated 5th ranked Serbian Mega Leks in Tenerife 73-59. The game was mostly controlled by CB Canarias. Mega Leks managed to win third quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CB Canarias forced 22 Mega Leks turnovers. Strangely Mega Leks outrebounded CB Canarias 47-30 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Mega Leks' players.
