J'Covan
Brown
26-year old point guard J'Covan Brown (188-PG-90) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Pinar Karsiyaka and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9.
He had the game-high 36 points adding four assists for Pinar Karsiyaka in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Umana VE (6-3) with 40-point margin 99-59. Pinar Karsiyaka is placed at 2nd position in their group in Basketball Champions League group B. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Pinar Karsiyaka will need more victories to improve their 6-3 record. In the team's last game Brown had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Pinar Karsiyaka's top player in his first season with the team. The University of Texas graduate has very impressive stats this year. Brown is in league's top in points (6th best: 17.0ppg) and averages solid 51.3% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Nik Slavica (201-F-97) of Cibona. He is a forward in his 3rd season at Cibona. In the last game Slavica recorded impressive 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course Cibona cruised to a 87-77 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Mega Leks (#8, 2-7). Cibona's 6th position in group D has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-6 record. Slavica is one of the most experienced players at Cibona and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard David Bell (188-PG-81, agency: Three Eye Sports) of Banco di Srd (#5). Bell got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for six assists. He was a key player of Banco di Srd, leading his team to a 97-88 win against the lower-ranked Szolnok (#8, 1-8). The chances of Banco di Srd ranking at the top of group E, however are very questionable as they have already lost 5 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Bell could help Banco di Srd to bring them higher in the standings. The season just started for Bell as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Sean Denison (210-C-85) of Oradea - 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Giorgos Bogris (210-C-89) of Iberostar Tener. - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Teemu Rannikko (189-PG-80) of Kataja Basket - 26 points, 2 rebounds and 10 assists
7. Lukasz Koszarek (187-PG-84) of Stelmet ZG - 22 points and 7 assists
8. Javon McCrea (201-F-92) of Maccabi Rishon - 19 points and 8 rebounds
9. Zanis Peiners (203-F/G-90) of PAOK - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
10. DaJuan Summers (203-F-88) of Pinar Karsiyaka - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Gediminas
Orelik
Orelik's 24 points and 8 rebounds give him Player of the Week award - 6 days ago
27-year old swingman Gediminas Orelik (199-G/F-90) had an amazing evening in the last round for Umana VE and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 1. He had the game-high 24 points adding eight rebounds and three assists for Umana VE in his team's victory, helping them to beat Banvit BK (0-1) 108-101. It's just the very beginning of the season and Umana VE won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely afte...   [read more]
