Chinemelu
Elonu
AEK Athens (A1) agreed terms with 29-year old Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-107kg-87, college: Texas A&M). He played last season at Besiktas in Turkish BSL league. In 25 games he had 8.0ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.1bpg. Elonu also played 5 games in Eurocup where he recorded 9.4ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.6spg and 1.6bpg.
The previous (2015) summer he played at Capitanes in Puerto Rican BSN. In 19 games he averaged 11.5ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.2apg and 1.5bpg in 2015 season. Elonu helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Quite impressive season as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Honorable Mention.
In 2009 he was drafted by Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) in second round (59th overall). Elonu attended Texas A&M University and it is his eighth season in pro basketball.
He was voted Big 12 All-Academic 1st Team back in 2009 at his college time.
Elonu is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in five different countries. Elonu tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in China (Jiangsu Tongxi), France, Spain (CAI Zaragoza) and Greece (Panionios).
On Elonu: a long athletic mobile high energy 4/5 that is a terrific rebounder and shot blocker. Chinemelu is also a rapidly developing offensive player able to score efficiently in the post as well as face up and pick and pop on the perimeter. Shoots a very high FG percentage.
