Banco di Srd - Le Mans 79-63

Dinamo Sassari eased past Le Mans in the opening leg of Round of 16. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Banco di Srd's pressure prevailed and they won that period 27-12 extending their advantage to 16 points. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American power forward Gani Lawal (205-88, college: Georgia Tech) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds. Serbian Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Banco di Srd players scored in double figures. Banco di Srd's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian guard Olivier Hanlan (193-93, college: Boston Coll.) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Wilfried Yeguete (201-91, college: Florida, agency: BeoBasket) added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Le Mans.

Umana Venezia held off Scandone Avellino in the opener. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 13-4 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Umana Venezia dominated on the defensive end, holding Scandone AV to just 4 points in fourth quarter. It was a very good performance for American forward Jamelle Hagins (206-90, college: Delaware) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Tyrus McGee (188-91, college: Iowa St.) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Umana Venezia's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game.
