Vytautas snatched a narrow road win over Groningen in the opener. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-75. Vytautas made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Egidijus Dimsa (205-85) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Eigirdas Zukauskas (205-92) contributed with 22 points for the winners. American-Dutch swingman Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) answered with 12 points and 5 assists and American guard Brandyn Curry (187-91, college: Harvard) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Groningen. Four Groningen players scored in double figures.

Swingman Jose Silva (194-89) nailed 18 points for the winning side and American point guard Jesse Sanders (190-89, college: Liberty) accounted for 11 points and 5 rebounds. Benfica's coach used entire bench in such tough game. American swingman Brian Oliver (201-90, college: Seton Hall) came up with 23 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian point guard Bogic Vujosevic (190-92) added 16 points respectively for Kapfenberg Bulls in the defeat. Antwerp inched closer to the next round with a narrow tough road win in Sweden. BC Lulea was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 25-20 charge of Antwerp Giants, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Antwerp Giants especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Hans Vanwijn (205-95) fired 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Dennis Donkor (193-91, agency: 3Eye) chipped in 14 points. Antwerp Giants' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. EnBW Ludwigsburg dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Bosna-Royal's 28 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for American forward Dwayne Evans (201-92, college: St.Louis) who helped to win the game recording 23 points (made all of his seven free throws).
