Thriller win for Belarus in Day One of U18 EuroBasket Division B in Strumica, FYROM. Hanna Kalenta (190-C-94) made a basket for Belarus setting the score to 68-64 with 30 seconds remaining in the game. Ilze Jakobsone responded with triple at the other side, after what Kalenta missed two free throws. Belarus had the possession and there was 12 seconds left on the clock. Jakobsone pulled up for 2, but she missed and Belarus grabbed 68-67 win at the end (Group C). Quarters: 9-23, 20-16, 27-9, 12-19. Kalenta led Belarus with 18 points and 5 rebounds, while Maryia Papova (186-PF-94) helped with 17 points and 8 boards. Their third scorer was Natallia Pratskaila (184-F-94) with 8 points. In Latvia, Ruta Veidere (188-C-94) collected 15 points and 13 rebs. Renate Reine (176-G-94) also scored 15 and Ance Aizsila (175-G-94) had 10 pts, plus 5 rebs. Teams will take a rest today and will continue with games on Saturday.

Russia - Belarus 77:64 Russia finished second at the international friendly Patras Tournament. They earned the second win on Friday beating Belarus. Epiphanny Prince (175-G-88, college: Rutgers) nailed 20 points to pace the winners. Belarus got to a quicker start. They jumped to a 22:17 lead after ten minutes.
