Vitali Liutych selected the top Belarusian playing abroad in last week's games - Nov 5, 2012

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Belarusians who are currently playing abroad.

Vitali Liutych
Vitali Liutych
#1. This week's number one is an international shooting guard Vitali Liutych (198-92, currently plays in Baltic League). He led his Lithuanian team Siauliai to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Rapla (0-4) crushing them 106-63 in the Baltic League in Saturday night's game. Liutych recorded 13 points in 22 minutes on the court. BC Siauliai (4-1) is placed second in group A. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Liutych has relatively good stats this year: 12.2ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 71.0%(22-31), 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 72.7% in the five games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Belarusian senior national team.

Vladimir Veremeenko
Vladimir Veremeenko
#2. Second place goes to former international forward Vladimir Veremeenko (208-84, currently plays in VTB United League). Veremeenko led his Russian team Unics Kazan to a victory against the eighth-ranked Kalev/Cramo (1-3) 86-72 in the VTB United League last Monday. He recorded 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks (made all of his five free throws). Unics Kazan (3-1) is placed third in group A. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Veremeenko's fifth year with the team. This season Veremeenko averages: 9.0ppg, 4.8rpg, 2FGP: 61.9%(13-21) and FT: 76.9%. He has a dual citizenship: Belarusian and Russian. Veremeenko played for the Belarusian national team in 2007.

Mikita Meshcharakou
Mikita Meshcharakou
#3. The Belarusian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international small forward Mikita Meshcharakou (202-88, college: Wake Forest, currently plays in Italy). He was the major contributor in an AcegasAps TR's victory against the closely-ranked Givova Scafati (3-2) crushing them 81-61 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) on Sunday night. Meshcharakou recorded 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 24 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his first season in pro basketball. Acegas Aps Trieste (3-2) is placed sixth in the Lega2. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Meshcharakou's first year with the team. This season Meshcharakou's overall stats are: 7.0ppg, 3.6rpg, 2FGP: 35.7%, 3FGP: 27.3% and FT: 75.0% in the five games. He is also a member of the Belarusian senior national team.

Artsiom Parakhouski
Artsiom Parakhouski
#4. Center Artsiom Parakhouski (210-87, college: Radford, currently plays in Turkey), who plays in the Turkish TBL could not help Olin Edirne (1-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Parakhouski's good performance Olin Edirne was badly defeated 81-62 on the road by the much higher-ranked Galatasaray (#3). He recorded 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Parakhouski's first year with the team. Parakhouski is ranked second on the list of the best blockers in the league. He has very reliable stats this season: 11.3ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.8apg and 1.5bpg. Parakhouski is also Belarusian national team player.

Dante Stiggers
Dante Stiggers
#5. International point guard Dante Stiggers (188-82, college: S.Mississippi, currently plays in Cyprus) was not able to help Apoel (0-1) in their game against Keravnos (2-0) in the Cypriot Division A. He scored only 4 points, made 8 passes and 4 steals in 34 minutes. Apoel was edged 68-66 in Strovolos by the leading Keravnos. Stiggers' team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's Stiggers' first season with the team. Stiggers belongs to league's best passers (ranked #2) and also on the list of most steals (first place). This year his total stats are: 7.5ppg, 2.0rpg, 6.5apg and 4.0spg in the two games. Stiggers is a naturalized American. He plays currently for the Belarusian national team. Stiggers used to play for BK Minsk-2006 in Belarusian league.

The list of other players, who all have Belarusian passport but never been selected to any of Belarusian national teams:

#1. Valentin Yurchyk (207-F-87, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov, currently plays in Russia), who plays in the Russian PBL could not help BC Nizhny Novgorod (1-3) to beat Khimky (2-0). He did not beat the league record on Monday evening. Yurchyk recorded only 1 points. BC Nizhny Novgorod was defeated 86-82 on the road by the second-ranked Khimky. It was BC Nizhny Novgorod's third consecutive loss in a row. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This season Yurchyk averages just 1.5ppg. He has a dual citizenship: Belarusian and Russian.

#2. Vladi Yeremishin (201-F/C-84, agency: Avi Zilberman, currently plays in Israel) contributed to a 2-point Ironi Ramat Gan's victory against the closely-ranked Ironi Nahariya (2-1) 82-80 in the Israeli National League (second division) in Tuesday night's game. Yeremishin scored 6 points in only 11 minutes. Ironi Kfar Hamaccabia Ramat Gan (2-1) is placed fourth in the National League. This year Yeremishin averages only 2.0ppg in the three games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Belarusian and Israeli. Despite Yeremishin's Belarusian nationality, he previously played for the Israeli university national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Belarusian team.

#3. Yivgeni Lioutrine (200-C-88, currently plays in Israel) managed to help Elitzur Yavne to win against the sixth-ranked Hapoel Kazrin (2-1) 94-75 in the Israeli National League (second division) last Tuesday. Lioutrine scored only 1 points. Elitzur Yavne (3-0) is placed first in the National League. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. Lioutrine has averaged so far 3.7ppg and 3.0rpg. He has both Belarusian and Israeli nationalities.
