Premier League Round 6: Rubon loses to Grodno-93 in the game between Top 4 teams - Nov 7, 2012

After 6 rounds played we can already see who rules in the Premier League and who belongs to weaker ones.

Very significant was Grodno-93's (#1, 5-0) victory against 3rd ranked Rubon (3-2) 80-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Rubon. The game without a history. Grodno-93 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rubon's 34. They outrebounded Rubon 36-24 including 21 on the defensive glass. The former international center Yury Mishukov (205-85) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Igor Konuyshenko (196-86) chipped in 17 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Dimitri Sivalko (199-85) with 18 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Grodno-93 (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Rubon at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Tsmoki-Minsk II. Grodno-93 are looking forward to face Impuls BGUIR (#6) in Minsk in the next round where they are favorite. Rubon will play on the road against Svisloch in Osipovichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Impuls BGUIR's coach Fedor Rodenko rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Svisloch left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Impuls BGUIR. It was Impuls BGUIR's fourth loss in a row. Svisloch will play against higher ranked Rubon (#3) in Vitebsk in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Impuls BGUIR will play at home against the league's leader Grodno-93 to get more than just one victory in their record.

Tsmoki-Minsk II - Borisfen 81-60

Fourth ranked Tsmoki-Minsk II (3-2) crushed at home 6th ranked Borisfen (1-5) by 21 points 81-60, which is the biggest margin this round on Tuesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Tsmoki-Minsk II. Borisfen managed to win second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tsmoki-Minsk II dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Borisfen's 32. They outrebounded Borisfen 47-33 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Valentin Ignatchik (192-91) who scored 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Lithuanian forward Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Artsiom Sharamet (207-93) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and guard Sergey Tatur (195-91) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Svisloch has finally registered their first victory this season after four consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Impuls BGUIR (1-4) 93-75. It looked good early as Impuls BGUIR took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Svisloch had a 24-20 second period charge getting the lead and Impuls BGUIR was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-93. Svisloch forced 27 Impuls BGUIR turnovers. Lithuanian point guard Vytautas Kamarunas (179-89) notched 32 points, 8 assists and 7 steals to lead the effort and the former international guard Maksim Shustau (188-86) supported him with 20 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four Svisloch players scored in double figures. Even 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals by point guard Anton Papruha (190-93) did not help to save the game for Impuls BGUIR. Ormanspor Genclik Ankara (TB2L) inked 32-year old American guard Antonio Graves (191-86kg-85, college: Pittsburgh). He played most recently at Tsmoki-Minsk in Belarusian Premier League.
