Very significant was Sozh Gomel's (#2, 6-1) victory against one of their biggest challengers Rubon (4-3) 100-73. The game was mostly controlled by Sozh Gomel. Rubon managed to win third quarter 29-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sozh Gomel forced 21 Rubon turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Rubon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Siarhei Charykau (185-82, college: Yakima Valley CC) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and guard Kiril Sitnik (190-89) who added 18 points, 5 assists and 6 steals during the contest. Forward Marsel Ovsepian (202-90) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Rubon's coach Ruslan Baidakov gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sozh Gomel have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 6-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Grodno-93. Rubon at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Tsmoki-Minsk II. Sozh Gomel are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Svisloch (#7) in Osipovichi in the next round where they are favorite. Rubon will play on the road against Tsmoki-Minsk II (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Osipovichi was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Tsmoki-Minsk II (4-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Svisloch (1-6). Tsmoki-Minsk II managed to secure a 8-point victory 77-69. The winners were led by Lithuanian forward Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) who scored that evening 27 points and 8 rebounds and Valentin Ignatchik supported him with 15 points and 7 assists. Even 25 points and 5 steals by the former international guard Maksim Shustau (188-86) did not help to save the game for Svisloch. Tsmoki-Minsk II moved-up to third place, which they share with Rubon. Svisloch at the other side stay at the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Borisfen. Tsmoki-Minsk II will play against Rubon (#3) in Vitebsk in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Svisloch will play on the road against the league's second-placed Sozh Gomel (#2) to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Minsk was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Borisfen (1-6) played at the court of sixth ranked Impuls BGUIR (2-5). Impuls BGUIR managed to secure a 5-point victory 88-83 on Friday. Impuls BGUIR moved-up to fifth place. Borisfen lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Svisloch. Impuls BGUIR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Borisfen will play against the league's leader Grodno-93 (#1).



Svisloch - Tsmoki-Minsk II 69-77

The game in Osipovichi was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Tsmoki-Minsk II (4-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Svisloch (1-6). Tsmoki-Minsk II managed to secure a 8-point victory 77-69. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Svisloch won third quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Tsmoki-Minsk II won last quarter 22-15. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Svisloch's 32. The winners were led by Lithuanian forward Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) who scored that evening 27 points and 8 rebounds and guard Valentin Ignatchik (192-91) supported him with 15 points and 7 assists. Four Tsmoki-Minsk II players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 5 steals by the former international guard Maksim Shustau (188-86) did not help to save the game for Svisloch.
