Rubon beats Tsmoki-Minsk II in the most crucial game of the week - Dec 1, 2012

An exciting game was played in Minsk. Third ranked Rubon faced 4th placed Tsmoki-Minsk II. Guests from Vitebsk (6-3) smashed host Tsmoki-Minsk II (4-4) 87-63. The game without a history. Rubon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 35 Tsmoki-Minsk II turnovers. Strangely Tsmoki-Minsk II outrebounded Rubon 46-29 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Tsmoki-Minsk II helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Dmitri Akulich (190-86) who scored 22 points and 6 assists. Russian guard Anton Indrikov (193-87) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian forward Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rubon maintains third place with 6-3 record having just one points less than leader Grodno-93. Tsmoki-Minsk II at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Rubon will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tsmoki-Minsk II's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Minsk to the arena Impuls BGUIR.

Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Grodno-93 (8-0) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Borisfen lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Grodno-93 will play against league's second-placed Sozh Gomel at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Borisfen will play against Svisloch (#7) in Osipovichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 9 bottom-ranked Svisloch was crushed by Sozh Gomel in a road game 94-69.

Grodno-93 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Borisfen to just 7 points in second and third quarters. Grodno-93 held Borisfen to an opponent 22.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Grodno-93 forced 24 Borisfen turnovers and outrebounded them 55-27 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international forward Kanstantin Yafremov (202-86, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Sozh Gomel - Svisloch 94-69

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Svisloch (1-8) was crushed on the road by second ranked Sozh Gomel (7-1) 94-69. The game was mostly controlled by Sozh Gomel. Svisloch was better in third quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sozh Gomel dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Svisloch's 34. Sozh Gomel forced 21 Svisloch turnovers and outrebounded them 40-22 including a 31-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for guard Kiril Sitnik (190-89) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!). The former international point guard Siarhei Charykau (185-82, college: Yakima Valley CC) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Sozh Gomel players scored in double figures. Lithuanian point guard Vytautas Kamarunas (179-89) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Anton Korneenkov (198-90) added 12 points in the effort for Svisloch. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Sozh Gomel. They maintain second place with 7-1 record behind leader Grodno-93. Svisloch lost their fourth game in a row. Tsmoki-Minsk celebrated the ninth consecutive Premier League trophy. They edged Grodno-93 86:79 at home court to complete the sweep of the championship series.
