Premier League Round 10: Derby game ends with Impuls BGUIR's defeat of Tsmoki-Minsk II - Dec 4, 2012

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Minsk: Impuls BGUIR (#5) and Tsmoki-Minsk II (#4). Impuls BGUIR (3-6) won against visiting Tsmoki-Minsk II (4-5) 75-70. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 24-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Impuls BGUIR forced 48 Tsmoki-Minsk II turnovers. Strangely Tsmoki-Minsk II outrebounded Impuls BGUIR 54-20 including a 42-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Henadziy Zakhar (198-92) who helped to win the game recording 19 points. Swingman Denis Azaare (196-92) contributed with 9 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian forward Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 24 rebounds for Tsmoki-Minsk II. Tsmoki-Minsk II's coach Tadas Stockus rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Impuls BGUIR maintains fifth position with 3-6 record. Tsmoki-Minsk II at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Impuls BGUIR are looking forward to face league's second-placed Sozh Gomel on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tsmoki-Minsk II will play against the league's leader Grodno-93 and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Grodno-93 (9-0) which hosted in Grodno their biggest opponent Sozh Gomel (7-2). Top-ranked Grodno-93 managed to get a 12-point victory 90-78. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Sozh Gomel. The former international center Yury Mishukov (205-85) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Artem Malkov chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Grodno-93's coach Andrei Vasileuka allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Ukrainian forward Sergei Dadukin (198-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Undefeated Grodno-93 have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-0 record. Sozh Gomel at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. Grodno-93 will play against Tsmoki-Minsk II (#4) on the road in the next round. Sozh Gomel will play against Impuls BGUIR in Minsk and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Svisloch (2-8) moved-up to sixth place. Borisfen lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Svisloch will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Borisfen will play against Rubon (#3) in Vitebsk.

Svisloch - Borisfen 82-66

Bottom-ranked Svisloch managed to get a second victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Tuesday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Borisfen in Osipovichi 82-66. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 16-point difference suggests that Svisloch is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game was mostly controlled by Svisloch. Borisfen managed to win fourth quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Svisloch forced 21 Borisfen turnovers. Forward Pavel Shuleyko (200-88) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Ilya Sharipov (198-91) supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Falco KC Szombathely (A Division) signed 31-year old Belarusian small forward Aliaksandr Pustahvar (202-98kg-85). He is a dual citizen owning also Russian passport. Pustahvar played last season at Targu Mures in Romanian Liga Nationala. In 25 games he had 9.0ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.4apg. He helped them to make it to the final. Tsmoki-Minsk (Premier League) signed 31-year old American point guard Dru Joyce (183-85, college: Akron). He played last season at s.Oliver Baskets in German BBL league.
