Premier League Round 11: Tsmoki-Minsk II loses to Grodno-93 in the game between Top 4 teams - Dec 7, 2012

Very significant was Grodno-93's (#1, 10-0) victory against 4th placed Tsmoki-Minsk II (4-6) 91-70. The game was mostly controlled by Grodno-93. Tsmoki-Minsk II managed to win third quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Grodno-93 forced 28 Tsmoki-Minsk II turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international guard Dzmitry Kuzmin (196-75) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Kanstantin Yafremov (202-86, agency: Promotex) helped adding 14 points. Lithuanian forward Ronaldas Rutkauskas (203-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Grodno-93 (10-0) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 10 victories in a row. Tsmoki-Minsk II lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with six games lost. Grodno-93 are looking forward to face Svisloch (#6) in Osipovichi in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Tsmoki-Minsk II will have a break next round.

It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Dmitri Akulich (190-86) who led the winners and scored 13 points and 8 assists. Anton Indrikov accounted for 15 points and 4 assists. Forward Evgeny Batvenkov (198-80) came up with 20 points and 9 rebounds for Borisfen in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Rubon. They maintain third place with 7-3 record having just three points less than leader Grodno-93. Borisfen lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Rubon will play against Impuls BGUIR (#5) in Minsk in the next round. Borisfen will play on the road against the league's second-placed Sozh Gomel to get more than just one victory in their record.

Sozh Gomel - Impuls BGUIR 99-57

Second ranked Sozh Gomel (8-2) crushed at home 5th ranked Impuls BGUIR (3-7) by 42 points 99-57, which is the biggest margin this round on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by Sozh Gomel. Impuls BGUIR managed to win fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Impuls BGUIR to just 6 points in third quarter. Sozh Gomel dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Impuls BGUIR's 24 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Sozh Gomel forced 19 Impuls BGUIR turnovers and outrebounded them 54-19 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sozh Gomel looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Impuls BGUIR's players. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian forward Sergei Dadukin (198-83) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Pavel Bliznets (210-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Four Sozh Gomel players scored in double figures. point guard Anton Papruha (190-93) produced 15 points and guard Kiril Volodkin (190-91) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Russian guard Anton Indrikov (193-87) accounted for 15 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Akulich is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Tsmoki-Minsk (Premier League) landed 30-year old former Belarusian international small forward Aliaksei Trastsinetski (200-98kg-86). It is actually his comeback to Minsk as he played here before. Trastsinetski has played for the last two years at BC Ryazan in Russian Superleague 1. In 28 games he averaged 8.2ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.2apg and 1.4spg last season.
