BK Sozh-GGU Gomel (Premier League) agreed terms with 28-year old Ukrainian center Elena Staschuk (192-85). She just played at Astana Tigers in Kazakhstan D1 league. The last season Staschuk played also at Astana Tigers in D1. In 24 games last year she had 14.8ppg. She helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. Quite impressive season as she was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Kazakhstan League Player of the Year, Center of the Year and Import of the Year.
Staschuk won Belarusian League championship title in 2009.
She has played previously professionally in Ukraine (Orlan and Politeh Basket) and Belarus (Olimpia GrGAU).

Experienced Olga Kopylova (187-F-82) put on an amazing game in the last round for Olimpia and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2 (Second Stage). The 34-year old forward had a double-double of 19 points and ten rebounds, while her team beat Tsmoki-Minsk (10-3) 61-56. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in Premier League. An exciting game was played in Minsk. Olimpia GrGAU faced Tsmoki-Minsk. Guests from Grodno (10-3) defeated host Tsmoki-Minsk (10-3) 61-56.
