Olga
Kopylova
Forward Olga Kopylova (187-F-82) put on an amazing game in the last round for Sozh Gomel, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, while her team outclassed Victoria (#6, 2-9) with 35-point margin 106-71. Sozh Gomel maintains the 5th position in Belarusian Premier League. Sozh Gomel is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-7 record. Kopylova has many years of experience at Sozh Gomel, through which he has constantly improved. Olga Kopylova has solid league stats. She is league's best scorer averaging so far 18.7ppg. Kopylova is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 8.8rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was another Sozh Gomel's star - 27-year old Ukrainian Elena Staschuk (192-C-85). Staschuk had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Of course together with Kopylova she helped Sozh Gomel with another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Victoria (#6, 2-9) 106-71. Sozh Gomel's 5th position in the standings has not changed. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-7 record. Staschuk is one of the most experienced players at Sozh Gomel and similarly like Olga Kopylova has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Russian center Lyubov Alyoshkina (203-C-81) of league's top team Olimpia. Alyoshkina scored 9 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Olimpia, leading her team to a 58-43 easy win against #2 ranked Tsmoki-Minsk in a game of the week. Olimpia have amazing season winning all 9 games without a single defeat. Alyoshkina turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Alyoshkina has a great season in Belarus. After only 9 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.6rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Maryia Filonchyk (187-PF-92) of Olimpia - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Tatsiana Khatsko (187-F-89) of Gorizont - 12 points and 7 rebounds
6. Natalia Anufryienka (174-G-85) of Gorizont - 21 points and 6 rebounds
7. Karalina Padshyvalava (165-PG-92) of Victoria - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Ekaterina Charikova) of Sozh Gomel - 12 points and 2 rebounds
9. Maryna Ivashchanka (190-C-93) of Gorizont - 10 points and 3 rebounds
10. Anastasiya Kolotilschikova (182-F-90) of Sozh Gomel - 12 points and 4 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
