Center Artsiom Sharamet (207-C-93) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Borisfen, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18. The 19-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Rubon (#3, 8-7) 69-55. Borisfen maintains the 7th position in Belarusian Premier League. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 14 games and recorded just two victories. It was one of impressive evenings for Sharamet as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Artsiom Sharamet has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 6.4rpg).
The second best player in last round's games was young Henadziy Zakhar (198-SF-92) of Impuls BGUIR. Zakhar had a very good evening with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. It was enough for Impuls BGUIR to edge the higher-ranked Sozh Gomel (#2, 12-4) 85-79. Impuls BGUIR's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-9 record. Zakhar is one of the most experienced players at Impuls BGUIR and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.9ppg (#4). He also registered 9.1 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was Lithuanian guard Vytautas Kamarunas (179-PG-89) of Tsmoki-Minsk II (#4). Kamarunas scored 26 points and grabbed six rebounds. Despite Kamarunas' great performance Tsmoki-Minsk II lost 73-84 to #1 ranked Grodno-93. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Tsmoki-Minsk II ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Kamarunas could help Tsmoki-Minsk II to bring them higher in the standings. Kamarunas has a great season in Belarus. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 6.5apg (6th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Artem Malkov (185-PG-88) of Grodno-93 - 17 points and 7 rebounds 5. Kiril Volodkin (190-G-91) of Impuls BGUIR - 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Anton Indrikov (193-G-87) of Rubon - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Yauheni Beliankou (197-SF-95) of Tsmoki-Minsk II - 12 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Uladzimir Charko (200-F/G-74) of Grodno-93 - 15 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists 9. Yuriy Ignatiev (198-F-91) of Impuls BGUIR - 10 points and 9 rebounds 10. Aliaksandr Semianiuk (207-F-93) of Tsmoki-Minsk II - 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
