Premier League Round 14: Olimpia GrGAU defeats Gorizont in the game between Top 4 teams - Jan 24, 2013

An interesting game for Olimpia GrGAU (11-0) which played road game in Minsk against 3rd ranked Gorizont (8-4). Top-ranked Olimpia GrGAU had an easy win 77-60. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-60. Olimpia GrGAU made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Maryia Papova (186-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Nadzeya Drozd (174-83) contributed with 13 points and 7 assists for the winners. International guard Natalia Anufryienka (174-85, agency: LBM Management) replied with 31 points and 6 rebounds for Gorizont. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Olimpia GrGAU have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-0 record. Defending champion Gorizont keeps the third place with four games lost.
An interesting game for Tsmoki-Minsk (10-2) which hosted in Minsk 4th ranked Berezina-RCOR (4-7). Second ranked Tsmoki-Minsk had an easy win 65-46. Ukrainian center Alina Iordan (190-88) scored 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Viktoryia Pantsiukh chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Swingman Katsiaryna Pratasevich (178-94) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Tsmoki-Minsk maintains second position with 10-2 record behind leader Olimpia. Berezina-RCOR lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost.
Bottom-ranked BrGU COR Victoria is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 12th consecutive match to fifth ranked Sozh Gomel (5-7) 112-49 on Wednesday evening. Anna Kiriyenko notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 11 points and 7 rebounds by Veranika Adamik did not help to save the game for BrGU COR Victoria. Sozh Gomel moved-up to fourth place. BrGU COR Victoria at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost.

The most impressive performance of 14th round was 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists by Olga Kopylova of Sozh Gomel.

Sozh Gomel - BrGU 112-49

Bottom-ranked BrGU COR Victoria is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 12th consecutive match to fifth ranked Sozh Gomel (5-7) 112-49 on Wednesday evening. The game without a history. Sozh Gomel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to BrGU COR Victoria's 32. Sozh Gomel forced 25 BrGU COR Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 54-32 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sozh Gomel looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by BrGU COR Victoria's players. Ukrainian center Anna Kiriyenko (190-93) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Olga Kopylova (187-82) supported her with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Sozh Gomel players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 7 rebounds by forward Veranika Adamik (181-90) did not help to save the game for BrGU COR Victoria.
