Maks Adam Konate claims Belarusian Premier League weekly honour - Feb 2, 2013

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

Maks Adam
Talented Ukrainian Maks Adam Konate (200-F-91) had a very impressive game in the last round for Svisloch and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 20.
The 21-year old forward had the game-high 32 points adding six rebounds and two assists for Svisloch in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Impuls BGUIR (#5, 7-10) with 34-point margin 103-69. Svisloch maintains the 6th position in Belarusian Premier League. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Svisloch have already lost 12 games and recorded just five victories. In the team's last game Konate had a remarkable 76.5% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Svisloch, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Maks Adam Konate averages this season 18.0ppg and 10.4rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Svisloch's star - 22-year old Ukrainian guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-G-90). Polyulyak impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 14 assists. Of course together with Konate he helped Svisloch with another comfortable win outscoring slightly higher-ranked Impuls BGUIR (#5, 7-10) 103-69. Svisloch's 6th position in the standings has not changed. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Svisloch managed to get this year. Polyulyak is one of the most experienced players at Svisloch and similarly like Maks Adam Konate has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Lithuanian Vytautas Kamarunas (179-PG-89) of Tsmoki-Minsk II (#4). Kamarunas showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Tsmoki-Minsk II, leading his team to a 66-52 easy win against the lower-ranked Borisfen (#7, 3-15). The chances of Tsmoki-Minsk II ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Kamarunas could help Tsmoki-Minsk II to bring them higher in the standings. Kamarunas has a great season in Belarus. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.5apg (6th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Aliaksandr Semianiuk (207-F-93) of Tsmoki-Minsk II - 14 points and 14 rebounds
5. Vladimir Krisevich (210-C-91) of Tsmoki-Minsk II - 17 points, 17 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Vitaliy Bliznyuk (206-C-79) of Grodno-93 - 11 points and 5 rebounds
7. Fedor Kryukov (181-PG-88) of Borisfen - 17 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Anton Indrikov (193-G-87) of Rubon - 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Denis Azaare (196-G/F-92) of Impuls BGUIR - 11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Kanstantin Yafremov (202-F-86) of Grodno-93 - 7 points and 6 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
