Premier League Round 22: Rubon loses to Sozh Gomel in the game between Top 4 teams - Feb 8, 2013

Very significant was Sozh Gomel's (#2, 14-5) victory against one of their biggest challengers Rubon (9-10) 77-69. Rubon was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 26-17 charge of Sozh Gomel, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 24 Rubon turnovers. Guard Kiril Sitnik (190-89) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and Ukrainian forward Dmytro Khodov (203-87) chipped in 20 points during the contest. At the losing side Latvian center Zintis Plivda (206-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Sozh Gomel maintains second position with 14-5 record having three points less than leader Grodno-93. Rubon at the other side keeps the third place with ten games lost. Sozh Gomel are looking forward to face Svisloch (#6) in Osipovichi in the next round. Rubon will play on the road against Tsmoki-Minsk II and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Svisloch's coach Andrei Olbrecht allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 21 points and 5 assists by Lithuanian point guard Vytautas Kamarunas (179-89) did not help to save the game for Tsmoki-Minsk II. Svisloch maintains sixth position with 6-13 record. Tsmoki-Minsk II at the other side keeps the fourth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Impuls BGUIR. Svisloch will play against league's second-placed Sozh Gomel on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tsmoki-Minsk II will play against Rubon in Vitebsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Fedor Kryukov produced 24 points for lost side. Impuls BGUIR moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tsmoki-Minsk II. Newly promoted Borisfen stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Impuls BGUIR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Borisfen will play against the league's leader Grodno-93 (#1) and hope to secure a win.

Tsmoki-Minsk (Premier League) landed 30-year old former Belarusian international small forward Aliaksei Trastsinetski (200-98kg-86). It is actually his comeback to Minsk as he played here before.
