Aleksandra Khomenchuk claims Belarusian Premier League weekly honour - Feb 13, 2013

Russian-Ukrainian Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-C-89) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Gorizont and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 3 (Second Stage).
The 23-year old center had the game-high 8 points adding seventeen rebounds and three assists for Gorizont in her team's victory, helping them to beat Sozh Gomel (#4, 5-10) 73-60. Gorizont was forced-out from the top positions in Belarusian Premier League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Gorizont will need more victories to improve their 10-5 record. It's Khomenchuk's second year at Gorizont and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Khomenchuk has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.3rpg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young forward Hanna Tsarevich (178-F-95) of Victoria. Tsarevich impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 14 points and 10 assists. Of course she lead Victoria to another comfortable win outscoring BrGU (0-14) 103-59. The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Tsarevich is well-known by Victoria fans and she already established her position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Victoria's star - Viyaleta Kiuliak (181-F-96). Kiuliak scored 17 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of Victoria, helping her team with a 103-59 easy win against #0 ranked BrGU in a game of the week. The chances of Victoria not to end season at such low position in Group B, however are less than slim as they have already lost 9 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Kiuliak could try to bring Victoria's a little bit higher in the standings. Kiuliak has a very solid season. In 10 games in Belarus she scored 8.8ppg.

9. Hanna Tsarevich (178-F-95) of Victoria - 13 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Maryia Rashchenia (185-PF-92) of Victoria - 15 points and 12 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

BK Gorizont Minsk (Premier League) signed experienced 36-year old ex-international center Marina Kress (193-80). It is actually her comeback to Minsk as she has played here before. Kress played last season at Tsmoki-Minsk in the Premier League. She managed to play in four leagues last year (!!!). In 25 Premier League games she had 4.9ppg and 4.9rpg. BK Gorizont Minsk (Premier League) added to their roster 33-year old international point guard Volha Ziuzkova (172-83). She has played for the last four seasons at Tsmoki-Minsk in the Premier League. Ziuzkova managed to play in four leagues last year (!!!). In 28 Premier League games she recorded 6.1ppg, 3.2rpg, 3.5apg and 1.3spg. Vologda-Chevakata (PBL) inked 24-year old Belarusian international power forward Maryia Filonchyk (189-92). She has played for the last nine years at Olimpia in Belarusian Premier League.
