Russian-Ukrainian Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-C-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for Gorizont and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6 (Second Stage).
The 23-year old center had the game-high 14 points adding eight rebounds and two assists for Gorizont in her team's victory, helping them to beat Sozh Gomel (#4, 6-12) 82-73. Gorizont maintains the 3rd position in Belarusian Premier League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Gorizont will need more victories to improve their 12-6 record. It's Khomenchuk's second year at Gorizont and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Khomenchuk has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 9.9rpg) and averages solid 50.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old Ukrainian center Elena Staschuk (192-C-85) of Sozh Gomel. Staschuk impressed basketball fans with 32 points and 7 rebounds. Bad luck as Sozh Gomel lost that game 73-82 to slightly higher-ranked Gorizont (#3, 12-6). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group A. Sozh Gomel still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-12 record. Staschuk is one of the most experienced players at Sozh Gomel and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Alena Holubeva (176-PG-94) of Victoria (#-2). Holubeva scored 20 points and grabbed five rebounds. Despite Holubeva's great performance Victoria lost 53-70 to #-3 ranked Berezina. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Victoria ranking at the top of Group B, however are very questionable as they have already lost 10 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Holubeva could help Victoria to bring them higher in the standings. Holubeva has a very solid season. In 17 games in Belarus she scored 8.8ppg.

9. Katsiaryna Nialepka (178-SG-93) of Sozh Gomel - 9 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Katsiaryna Kalvinkoskaya (163-G-93) of Berezina - 9 points and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Premier League Round 3 (Second Stage): Olimpia GrGAU defeat leader Gorizont - 14 hours ago
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Gorizont (12-2) in Grodno on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Olimpia GrGAU (11-3) 79-72. Gorizont trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 21-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-79 at the end of the game. Olimpia GrGAU made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Experienced Olga Kopylova (187-F-82) put on an amazing game in the last round for Olimpia and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2 (Second Stage). The 34-year old forward had a double-double of 19 points and ten rebounds, while her team beat Tsmoki-Minsk (10-3) 61-56. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in Premier League. An exciting game was played in Minsk. Olimpia GrGAU faced Tsmoki-Minsk. Guests from Grodno (10-3) defeated host Tsmoki-Minsk (10-3) 61-56.
