Premier League Round 18: BSEU-GrandPrint beats Impuls BGUIR by two after a very close game - Jan 14, 2017

The most exciting game of round 18 in the Premier League took place in Minsk. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Impuls BGUIR (9-8) to seventh ranked BSEU-GrandPrint (4-16) 68-66 on Monday evening. Impuls BGUIR trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 22-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 66-68 at the end of the game. BSEU-GrandPrint forced 26 Impuls BGUIR turnovers. It was a good game for guard Sergej Vabischevich (190-88) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 5 assists. Power forward Vitaliy Lebedev (200-99) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Yaraslau Kurapau (203-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for Impuls BGUIR. BSEU-GrandPrint maintains seventh position with 4-16 record. Impuls BGUIR at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. BSEU-GrandPrint will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Impuls BGUIR will play on the road against Brest (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
Eighth-ranked Brest (2-13) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Impuls BGUIR (9-8). The visitors from Minsk managed to secure only three-point victory 66-63. However their fans expected easier game. The former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-86) scored 30 points to lead the charge for the winners and Genadziy Zahar chipped in 7 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Dmitriy Dmitruk (198-81) with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Impuls BGUIR maintains fifth position with 9-8 record. Brest lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with GOCOR-Sozh. Impuls BGUIR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Brest will play again at home against Impuls BGUIR (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Gomel supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Vitebsk (10-7) played at the court of 8th ranked GOCOR-Sozh (2-13). Vitebsk did not have too big problems ending evening with a very confident victory 88-68 on Friday. Ivan Aladko notched 24 points and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even 21 points by Tsimafei Viaroukin did not help to save the game for GOCOR-Sozh. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vitebsk have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-7 record. Loser GOCOR-Sozh dropped to the bottom place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Brest. Vitebsk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. GOCOR-Sozh will play again against Vitebsk (#4) and hope to secure a win.
The game between third ranked Tsmoki II (11-4) and 6th ranked Prinemanye (5-10) in Minsk ended with biggest points difference. Tsmoki II outscored guests from Grodno 78-43. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Prinemanye. The best player for the winners was Timofey Porolev who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tsmoki II maintains third position with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader COR-Borisfen. Prinemanye at the other side keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Tsmoki II's next round opponent will be again Prinemanye (#6) in Grodno.

Tsmoki II - Prinemanye 78-43

The game between third ranked Tsmoki II (11-4) and 6th ranked Prinemanye (5-10) in Minsk ended with biggest points difference. Tsmoki II outscored guests from Grodno 78-43. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Prinemanye. The game was mostly controlled by Tsmoki II. Prinemanye was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Prinemanye to just 5 points in third quarter. Tsmoki II dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Prinemanye's 24 and made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Tsmoki II forced 25 Prinemanye turnovers and had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Timofey Porolev (202-97) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Dmitriy Kuratnik (192-97) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Dmitriy Chumakov (203-93) who recorded 9 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Aliaksei Navoichyk (190-1) added 13 points respectively. Vitebsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 32. Vitebsk forced 19 GOCOR-Sozh turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Ivan Aladko (193-95) notched 24 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Victor Ovsepyan (204-91) supported him with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 21 points by point guard Tsimafei Viaroukin (186-93) did not help to save the game for GOCOR-Sozh. Power forward Aleksandr Kopacev (203-95) added 13 points and 9 rebounds. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Brest was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch.
