BC Telenet Oostende claimed the second straight Ethias League title. They overcame Mons-Hainaut at home court tonight to sweep the championship series. Dusan Djordjevic (195-G-83, agency: Beo Basket) stepped up with 16 points to pace the hosts. Mons-Hainaut entered the game with their backs against the wall. They aggressively started the encounter. The visitors grabbed a 15:13 lead ten minutes into the game. But Oostende soothed the tension in the Arena as they pulled ahead for a 30:25 halftime lead. But Mons-Hainaut were not about to give away. The visitors fired 20 points in the third term and pulled ahead for a narrow 45:43 lead before the fourth period. But it was not enough. Oostende exploded with 25 points in the final quarter and snatched a crucial win at the end. Matt Lojeski (198-G-85, college: Hawaii) delivered 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, while Wesley Wilkinson (207-PF-84, college: Nebraska) contributed 10 points for the winners. Guy Muya (190-PG-83, agency: TSS Management) responded with game-high 21 points for Mons-Hainaut. Josh Bostic (196-F-87, college: Findlay, OH) had 16 points in the losing effort.
Oostende became the Belgian Cup winners. They snatched a dramatic victory over Okapi Aalstar to claim the trophy. Matt Lojeski (198-G-85, college: Hawaii) came up with 26 points and 10 rebounds to pace the winners. Oostende fired 31 points in the opening quarter to surge ahead. They recorded a 9-point lead after ten minutes of action. Telenet Oostende stretched the gap in the second frame. They gained a 53:39 halftime advantage. Oostende maintained the advantage throughout the third period. They piled up what seemed to be a comfortable 19-point lead with ten minutes remaining. But Okapi Aalstar went on a 23:5 rally in the fourth stanza to narrow the gap to the minimum. But Oostende survived the challenge to seal the tough win at the end. Brent Wright (203-F/C-78, college: Florida) chipped in 13 points, while Dusan Djordjevic (195-G-83, agency: Beo Basket) added 9 points for the winning side. Derek Raivio (190-SG-84, college: Gonzaga) responded with 19 points for Okapi Aalstar. Christopher Young (206-F/C-79, agency: Court Side, college: Michigan) had 15 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.
