After the win of the Hungarian side Szolnoki Olajbanyasz against the French team Elan Chalon 90-81 yesterday, Telekom Baskets Bonn of coach and former German NT guard Michael Koch took the lead in Group J of the EuroChallenge. In the second Germano-Belgian duel this week (Artland Dragons faced Antwerp Giants in Group L last evening), Telekom Baskets Bonn quickly gave no chance to their visitors of Generali Okapi Aalstar. The score evolution in the first half shows it all: 24-14 after ten minutes and 41-28 at the break. The Belgian side had a poor shooting percentage in this game: 15/41 from two-point range and 6/17 from three-point range.
All chances are not over for Okapi Aalstar but either Szolnoki Olajbanyasz or Telekom Baskets Bonn have to win their last two game to give Aalstar a last chance to reach the next stage in this competition. The third and fourth quarters were more balanced and the 5300 spectators attending the game were happy to see local stars Benas Veikalas (192-G-83, 15 points), Jared Jordan (188-PG-84, 12 points and 10 assists), Tony Gaffney (204-F-84, 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks) and Chris Ensminger (209-C-73, 7 rebounds) stay in front despite many Belgian efforts. The third quarter ended on the following score: 58-45. Okapi Aalstar of coach Brad Dean did better in the last quarter but only reduced the gap: 71-63 as final score.
Christopher Young (206-F/C-79) was the best player with 16 points and 8 rebounds on the losing side.

The German team won the first period 24-14 and never looked behind in the game. They added 17-14 in the second frame for 41:28 halftime advantage. Christopher Christopher Young (206-F/C-79, agency: Court Side, college: Michigan) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds in the losing effort. Kevin Kruger (186-G-83, college: UNLV) added 12 points and 6 assists and Christopher Copeland (203-F-84, college: Colorado) scored 14 respectively for lost side.

Generali Okapi Aalstar has announced the addition of Swedish international Anton Gaddefors (200-F-89) to replace the released Torbert and injured Ruoff.Till recently he played in Serbia for Radnicki Kragujevac, a team he also played for during the 2010-2011 season. Before that he played most of his career in Sweden for Upsalla.The past years he was a member of the Swedish National team coached by Aalstar coach Brad Dean [read more]

The past years he was a member of the Swedish National team coached by Aalstar coach Brad Dean. He played 4 games for the senior team during the 2011 EC qualifying round in which he scored 18ppg. Anton was also on the roster of the U20 and U18 national teams.
