Czech Republic jumped to 3-0 record in Group G of U18 EuroBasket. They grabbed very valuable 64-62 win against Belgium making another huge step toward survival in Division A. Belgium slipped to 2-1 after this loss and only the winner of Group G will avoid relegation. Havlikova's two free throws lifted Czech Republic to 64-60 lead with 12 seconds remaining in the game. Hind Ben Abdelkader (170-SF-95) quickly responded with 2 free throws at the other side, but Czech Republic managed to keep the possession for rest of the way and to celebrate 64-62 win. Quarters: 14-19, 19-9, 13-19, 18-15. Kamila Hoskova (174-SF-95) led her country with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Karolina Severova (182-PF-94) and Sarka Jozova (174-SG-94) netted 12 points each. In the loosing squad, Ben Abdelkader responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds, while Antonia Delaere (176-F/G-94) added 18 points and 7 rebs. Camille Lebrun (174-SF-94) posted 9 pts for 12 minutes on the court. All teams will take a rest today. On Friday, Czech Republic will meet Romania, while Belgium will take on Poland.

Last year Declercq Stortbeton Waregem announced signing of Maja Vucurovic ,The Belgian team inked a deal with young Serbian forward Maja Vucurovic .The 22-year-old player finished 2011 season with Romanian BCT Alexandria. She joined them in January registering 13.9 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.1 apg and 1.3 spg for 17 games. Vucurovic started the season with Spanish Celta Vigo, but did not appear in any official game with them. Maja Vucurovic won the Polish league title a year ago with TS Wisla Can-Pack Krakow. She had limited playing time, but did a good job for the minutes she was getting. Vucurovic played for Wisla also in 2009/10 and they reached Euroleague Semifinals. In the past, Vucurovic successfully played for Serbian youth National Teams. In 2012-2013 for Declercq Stortbeton Waregem she averaged 10.9 points per game.
Together with the Men's Belgian Player of the Year, newspaper Het Nieuwsblad also had a voting for Femaile player of the year and prospect of the year.Next year we will not see the player of the year in Belgium since Hind Ben Abdelkader (170-PG-95) is headed to the USA to play for the University of California.She won the PoY award with a small edge of 9 pts over Sprimont's Noemie Mayombo (170-PG-91) [read more]
