Christian Manzanza (injury), Jordan Garvin (administrative reason) and Mitchel Kouwijzer (190-G-87, agency: Court Side) (190-G-87, who has just signed with CEP Fleurus) were missing on the host side last night. Guy Muya (190-PG-83, agency: TSS Management) (involved with the Belgian Lions in the Eurobasket 2013 qualifying campaign), Monwell Randle (203-F/C-83, agency: Court Side, college: SE Missouri St.) and Alexandre Libert (194-G-90) were left on the bench on the Belfius Mons-Hainaut's side.

There was a nice and enthusiastic crowd at the Salle Andre Robert for this excellent scrimmage game. CEP Fleurus took a good lead (+7) mainly due to an excellent start by Kevin Jonniaux (198-G-83) from long range (4 three-pointers in a row), nice presence of Thomas Bauwens (192-F-86) and the hardworking performance of Sead Muric (205-C-81) inside. Nevertheless, the visitors with their excellent US players Quincy Taylor (196-G-82, college: UAB), Jonathan Wallace (187-G-86, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Georgetown, Justin Cage (198-F-85, agency: Priority Sports, college: Xavier), Josh Bostic (196-F-87, college: Findlay, OH) and Brian Qvale (210-C-88, college: Montana) reacted well after the CEP storm had passed. Belfius Mons-Hainaut was in front at the end of the first quarter: 22-24. CEP Coach Paul Vervaeck took a time-out with 2:13 remaining in the second quarter when the scoreboard showed 38-46. The half-time was reached at 43-49 and Belfius MH Head Coach Yves Defraigne had given some playing time to young Belgian players like Lorenzo Giancaterino (190-F/G-90), Amaury Gorgemans (212-C-92), Emmanuel Lecomte (180-G-95) and Kevin Tumba (192-F/G-91).

The visitors started the third quarter in a pretty strong way and Ronell Taylor was very active in all sectors of the game. Belfius Mons-Hainaut was leading 48-61 with 6:34 remaining in the third quarter and even 48-65 despite a CEP time-out. Belgian talents Amaury Marion (196-F-91), Ludovic Pourtoit (182-G-88) and Christian Ilongo (194-F-85, agency: Promotex) boosted CEP Fleurus which remained 11 points behind at the end of the third quarter: 63-74.

Belfius Mons Hainaut always seemed to control the game and Coach Defraigne made some interesting rotations after 70-89 with only 5 minutes remaining in the game. Jonathan Wallace, Josh Bostic and Justin Cage will need some time to find each other but this could be an interesting trio to watch this season on the Belfius side. The last minutes of the game were interesting as the young CEP players Louis Hazard (199-F-94), Rik Vandenberghe (208-C-93) and Amaury Marion were able to run down the court in fastbreak situation. The local team even managed to avoid a double digit margin on the final buzzer when Ilongo hit a nice jump shot to make 85-93. A great basketball evening in Province Hainaut and a good scrimmage game for both teams!

Score evolution: 22-24, 38-46, 63-74 and 85-93.

Best scorers:

CEP Fleurus: Jonniaux 20, Marion 10, Ilongo 20, Bauwens 3, Muric 8, Hazard 4, Vandenberghe 7, Pourtoit 13.
Belfius Mons-Hainaut: Lecomte 3, Tumba 8, Qvale 11, Wallace 11, Taylor 16, Cage 13, Giancaterino 6, Schwartz 5, Bostic 10, Gorgemans 10.

Belfius Mons-Hainaut will play Royal Aera Excelsior Brussels today in Woluwe Saint-Lambert (at 17:15) and French Pro A team STB Le Havre in Tournai (at 17:00).
