Talented American Jason Clark (188-G-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's leader Aalstar and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5. The 22-year old guard had the game-high 22 points adding six rebounds and four assists for Aalstar in his team's victory, helping them to beat Liege (#3, 3-2) 70-60. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Aalstar to consolidate first place in the Belgian Ethias League. Aalstar have a solid 4-1 record. Clark turned to be Aalstar's top player in his first season with the team. Jason Clark averages this season 14.6ppg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old Serbian Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-C/F-87) of Verviers-Pep.. Aleksandrov impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Verviers-Pep. to edge slightly higher-ranked Leuven (1-4) by 3 points 87-84. Despite this victory they still are the league outsider. 4 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Verviers-Pep. managed to get this year. Aleksandrov is a newcomer at Verviers-Pep. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.2ppg (#7). He also registered 7.2 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was another Verviers-Pep.'s star - American Jerime Anderson (187-G-89). Anderson showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, five rebounds and ten assists (!!!) in the last round. He was another key player of Verviers-Pep., helping his team with a 87-84 win against Leuven (1-4). Verviers-Pep. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-4 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Anderson he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Anderson has individually a great season in Belgium. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 6.2apg (best passer).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Ralph Biggs (199-F-76) of Antwerp - 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Quincy Taylor (196-G-82) of M.Hainaut - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Gerald Robinson (185-PG-89) of Leuven - 27 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Derrick Allen (203-F-80) of Spirou - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Jeremy Green (193-G) of Verviers-Pep. - 15 points and 7 rebounds 9. Ivan Aska (200-F-90) of Leuven - 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Brian Qvale (210-C-88) of M.Hainaut - 10 points and 8 rebounds
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

It should be a nice occasion for Belgian basketball fans to attend high-level basketball games at the Complexe sportif in Neder-over-Heembeek, in the Brussels area. Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt will most probably come to the Belgian capital with their new German center Daniel Mayr (217-C-95), arriving from Bayern Munich, and their Canadian guard Philip Scrubb (190-G-92), who previously played for AEK Athens. KK Cibona VIP Zagreb, the club of former superstar Drazen Petrovic and many other Yugoslav legends like Kresimir Cosic or Danko Cvjeticanin, should also come to Brussels with an impressive roster, including Zagreb-born Zeljko Sakic (204-F-88, agency: BeoBasket) who just returns from Rio where he played for Croatia in the Olympics as well as Emir Sulejmanovic (204-F/C-95) who has been included on the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior national team this summer.

Opportunities for Improvement: Needs to continue to work on finishing off penetration.
Overall Comments: Needs to develop more of his game.
