Essor Charleroi (Spirou B) vs. Point Chaud Sprimont: 71-81
The Point Chaud Sprimont' players had to wake up rather early to travel to Charleroi on Sunday morning (the game was scheduled at 11:00 AM). Led by Gaetan Hertay (195-F-88) and Frederic Delsaute (191-F-86) in offense, the visitors of coach Pascal Horrion recorded a second win in a row. Special mention to Serbian talent Nikola Jankovic (205-PF-94) and Belgian center Boris Penninck (202-C-88) who scored 17 points each for the young Essor/Spirou squad. Best scorers: Essor: Y. Cuva Houthalen vs. Sint-Jan Antwerp: 81-76
The Limburgers of Cuva remain undefeated at home this season. Ronnie McCollum (192-G-78, agency: Two Points, college: Centenary, LA), Jason Westrol (191-G-88, college: Bentley) and Brian Tracey (195-F-88) showed the way in the first minutes (16-7). Although the Jantjes, led by former Ethias League player Senne Geukens (190-G-83) and a hard-working Mario Brown (202-F-84, college: Jacksonville), came closer (28-24, 38-31 and 55-50), Cuva kept being in front. Special mention to Dario Clemente (204-C-86) and Bart Maesen (198-F-89) for the winners too. It also seems that Cuva Houthalen is improving in defense. Score evolution: 26-13, 38-31, 61-54 and 81-76. Gembo BBC vs. Port of Antwerp Giants II: 94-63
Despite not having Domien Loubry (186-G-85) and Yannick Desiron (204-C-92) on the roster, it was a rather easy win for last year's Division II champions of Gembo in this Antwerp derby played at the Sporthal Luisbekelaar in Borgerhout on Saturday evening. Several injured young Giants also did not show up last Saturday. From the very beginning, the hosts gave no chance to the Giants in this game. Gembo was already leading 43-17 at the half. The home side's coach, Stefan Sappenberghs, could miss top scorer Domien Loubry (ankle injury) over the next two or three weeks.
BasKet Tongeren vs. Belfius Mons Hainaut II: 81-92
Nice success away for Patrick Verdun's team! Several efforts in offense by Joeri Moonen (205-F-84) were not enough to stop the young Foxes of Mons Hainaut II. Belfius' forward Loic Schwartz (198-G/F-92) and guard Emmanuel Lecomte (180-G-95) had great performances in this game: they respectively scored 35 and 27 points. Best scorers: Tongeren: J. Van Hoecke 3, M. Hendrix 8, K. Doukmani 12, P. Pipeleers 11, H. Baert 10, D. Dillen 6, J. Moonen 21, J. Eskens 10. Mons Hainaut II: E. Lecomte 27, M. Pretto 2, G. Vlamynck 5, L. Schwartz 35, K. Tumba 10, T. Traversin 8. M. Renard 5.
Kangoeroes Boom vs. Bent Schoenen Waregem: 100-90
The Kangoeroes had a strong start in the game: 13-4 after just a few minutes and a time-out taken by visiting team's coach Sven Declercq. Led by Arne Steinbach (182-PG-92), BS Waregem came back quickly into the game. They even surpassed Kangoeroes Boom in the second quarter: 34-35. Witse Van Schil (188-G-83) hit several baskets to give his Kangoeroes the lead again before the break. Referees called five technical fouls in the third and fourth quarters. BS Waregem came back to 70-64 but, due to bad options taken and to many successive fouls called against them, could not keep the right tempo. Kangoeroes, led by Dieter Souveryns (193-F/G-83), Sebastien Bellin (205-C-78, agency: Prossin Sports Management, college: Oakland) and Wim Dobbelaere (198-F/C-85) digged the gap: 88-73. Despite last efforts by the visitors and a few doubts in the mind of Kangoeroes' coach Tom Poppe when the scoreboard showed 91-88, the home side remained cold-blooded and eventually won the game. BS Waregem turned the ball over and missed last shots, leaving the Kangoeroes with the win: 100-90 after 40 minutes. Score evolution: 23-21, 48-42, 78-69 and 100-90. Best scorers: Kangoeroes: D. Souveryns 22, S. Bellin 21, W. Dobbelaere 20, D. Dhaens 18, W. Van Schil 13, M. Gorremans 4, K. De Wit 2. Waregem: A. Steinbach 21, T. Foucart 15, O. Foucart 15, B. Samaey 14, A. Gueye 13, L. Delepeleire 8, S. Dhondt 4.
CEP Fleurus vs. Excelsior Brussels: 70-53
The Black and Yellows of Fleurus started strongly: 9-0. In the first quarter, the CEPmen literally gave no chance to their guests: Ludovic Pourtoit (182-G-88) and Christian Ilongo (194-F-85, agency: Promotex) played quickly and Sead Muric (205-C-81) defended well. Although Excelsior's center Stephane Pelle (205-C/F-80, college: Colorado) was well present on the court (despite a foreseen surgery to be undergone in the weeks to come), the shorthanded Brussels' team could not avoid the loss at the Salle Andre Robert last Friday. Excelsior played better in the second quarter but remained 10 units behind at the half: 38-28. CEP's shooting machine Thomas Bauwens (192-F-86) was almost unstoppable and hit great shots from long range. His mate Ludo Pourtoit followed the example and, together with Louis Hazard (199-F-94), Christian Ilongo and Christian Manzanza (193-F-85, college: Peninsula JC), gave CEP Fleurus a new win. To the joy of CEP Fleurus' coach Paul Vervaeck , all CEP players strictly followed the instructions he had given before and during the game. Excelsior's coach Serge Crevecoeur and his staff were disappointed and agreed that it had not been a good day for their team last Friday. Emmanuel Mampuya (200-F/C-79, agency: Promotex, back injury) and Jonathan Kabangu (191-F-87) should still be missed for a few weeks on the Excelsior's side. Score evolution: 19-6, 38-28, 55-38 and 70-53. Best scorers: CEP: K. Jonniaux 2, C. Manzanza 8, L. Pourtoit 14, A. Chada 8, T. Bauwens 22, L. Hazard 6, C. Ilongo 10. Excelsior: N. Verrept 2, M. Depuydt 6, J. Van Haevermaet 13, G. De Pooter 4, L. Maesfrancx 14, J. De Schepper 7, S. Semijejero 7.
Sint-Niklase Condors vs. Gent Dragons: 66-73 (played on 2012-10-31)
This derby was played at the Sporthal De Witte Molen in Sint-Niklaas on Wednesday, Oct. 31st. The local team always trailed behind the Dragons who could have made their life easier if they had not missed free-throws and had been more concentrated in the last minutes of the game. Bjorn De Beukeleer (185-G/F-89) brought the Condors closer in the last quarter (59-66) but the Klaasjes were never able to tie the game or take the lead. Gent Dragons' scorer Thomas Van De Vondel (194-F/G-80) was sick but, although he was not in the starting five, played and scored 15 points in the game. Score evolution: 17-20, 37-41, 50-60 and 66-73. Best scorers: Condors: N/A Dragons: B. Heinle 12, R. Spaens 14, L. Tielens 11, T. Van De Vondel 15, M. Van Gelder 7, L. Enobokhare 11, C. Tshimuanga 3.

Former international Power forward Francois Lhoest (196-F/C-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for Ninane, receiving a Court Side Top Division I Player of the Week award for round 22. The 31-year old player had a double-double of 27 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Ieper (#11, 8-13) 94-87. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Ninane is placed at 10th position in Belgian Top Division I. Ninane is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 8-12 record. In the team's last game Lhoest had a remarkable 58.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Ninane, through which he has constantly improved. Francois Lhoest has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 18.8ppg), assists (6th best: 3.3apg) and averages impressive 53.5% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was young Sam Hemeleers (180-G-95) of Gistel Oostende. Hemeleers had a very good evening with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led Gistel Oostende to another comfortable win outscoring the higher-ranked Waregem (#2, 15-6) 86-64. This victory allowed Gistel Oostende to leave bottom place moving a little bit up to 13th position in the standings. 15 lost games are too many comparing to just six victories Gistel Oostende managed to get this year. Hemeleers is well-known at Gistel Oostende and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.
Third on the list of top players last round was center Mark De Meyer (194-C-88) of Oxaco (#3). De Meyer scored 21 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Oxaco, leading his team to a 92-68 easy win against the lower-ranked RPC Anderlecht (#12, 6-14). Oxaco needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 6 lost games. De Meyer has a very solid season. In 19 games in Belgium he scored 11.0ppg. He also has 5.5rpg and and 3PT: 42.0%.
