We bring you last week's top performances from Belgians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. This week's number one is an international forward Axel Hervelle (205-83, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He could not help Gescrap BB (5-2) in their last game. Despite Hervelle's very good performance Gescrap BB lost 84-98 on the road to the leading Real Madrid.
He recorded 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 30 minutes on the court.
It was Gescrap BB's first loss after five consecutive victories.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
This year Hervelle averages: 7.4ppg, 3.9rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 53.7% in the seven games he played so far.
He is currently a member of the Belgian senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international shooting guard Jonathan Tabu (184-85, currently plays in Italy). Tabu was the major contributor in Cantu's victory against the 12th-ranked Vanoli Cremona (2-5) crushing them 87-60 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday.
He recorded 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists.
Mapooro Cantu (5-2) is placed third in the SerieA.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Tabu has relatively good stats this year: 10.1ppg, 4.4rpg, 4.6apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 56.5%(13-23), 3FGP: 45.8%(11-24) and FT: 85.7%.
He is in the roster of the Belgian senior national team.
#3. The Belgian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Sam Van Rossom (188-86, currently plays in Spain). Van Rossom led CAI Zaragoza to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Asefa Estudiantes (4-3) 83-68 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night.
He recorded 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 20 minutes.
CAI Zaragoza (4-3) is placed seventh in the ACB.
But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen.
This year Van Rossom's overall stats are: 9.1ppg, 3.9rpg, 2.3apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 63.6%(14-22), 3FGP: 47.8%(11-23) in the seven games.
He is also a member of the Belgian senior national team.
#4. Center Aleksander Lichodzijewski (202-84, currently plays in Poland), who plays in the Polish TBL was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Polpharma (2-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Polpharma was defeated 83-75 in Kolobrzeg by the higher-ranked Kotwica (#8).
Lichodzijewski recorded 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Lichodzijewski's total stats this season are: 4.7ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.3spg.
He has a dual citizenship: Belgian and Polish.
Lichodzijewski used to play for the Belgian national team
back in 2008.
#5. An experienced international guard Marcus Faison (196-78, college: Siena, currently plays in Georgia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider STU (0-4) crushing them 95-42 in a derby game in the Georgian Superleague in Saturday night's game.
He recorded 8 points and added 4 passes in only 12 minutes.
BC Armia Tbilisi (3-0) is placed second in the Superleague.
So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season.
It's Faison's first season with the team.
This year Faison's total stats are: 9.7ppg, 2.7rpg and 3.3apg in the three games.
He is a naturalized American.
Faison used to play for the Belgian national team
last year.
He played also for TEC Spirou Charleroi in Belgian league.
#6. Swingman Gael Hulsen (193-90, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in United Kingdom) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Liverpool Mersey Tigers (0-8) in their game against Cheshire Jets (2-6) in the British BBL, despite his very good performance on Sunday night.
He scored 14 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 34 minutes.
But the bottom-ranked Liverpool Mersey Tigers lost 73-79 in Chester to the one of league's weakest teams (#11) Cheshire Jets.
So far Liverpool Mersey Tigers lost all eight games in the Regular Season.
This year Hulsen has relatively solid stats: 11.0ppg, 2.9rpg and 3.3apg in the seven games.
He is a former U20 international player as he played for the Belgian team three years ago.
#7. U20 international forward Thomas De Thaey (203-91, currently plays in NCAA1) contributed to an easy victory against the Miami University, Ohio crushing them 97-59 in the NCAA last Friday.
He recorded 10 points in only 9 minutes.
The North Carolina State University has 0-0 conference record this season.
De Thaey has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.3spg in the three games.
He used to play for the Belgian U20 national team
last year.
The list of other players, who all have Belgian passport but never been selected to any of Belgian national teams:
#1. Experienced Ryan Hoover (187-PG-74, agency: SportsTalent, college: Notre Dame, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian Lega2 (second division) could not help Fileni BPA Jesi (3-3) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Hoover's very good performance Fileni BPA Jesi was defeated 88-81 at home by the higher-ranked Novipiu Casale (#4).
He was the second best scorer with 18 points. Hoover also added 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists.
But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go.
This season Hoover has relatively solid stats: 10.2ppg, 4.8rpg, 3.5apg and 1.7spg.
He is a naturalized American.
Strangely Hoover has never played in Belgium.
#2.Tyler Haws (196-G, currently plays in NCAA1) led BYU to an easy victory against the Tennessee State University 81-66 in the NCAA last Friday.
He recorded 22 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 30 minutes.
The Brigham Young University has 0-0 conference record this season.
It's Haws' fourth year with the team.
This year Haws has relatively solid stats: 10.2ppg, 4.8rpg, 3.5apg and 1.7spg in the six games he played so far.
#3.Christopher Jones (186-G-90, currently plays in Luxembourg) led Contern to a 3-point victory over the closely-ranked T71 (3-5) 71-68 in the Luxembourg Diekirch League last Saturday.
Jones was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 10 rebounds. Jones also added 3 assists.
AB Contern (4-4) is placed fifth in the Diekirch League.
Jones is ranked second on the list of the most steals in the league.
He has very reliable stats this season: 11.3ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.6apg and 2.6spg.
Jones has a dual citizenship: Belgian and Luxembourg.
#4.Douglas Tshomba (201-F-83, college: Tusculum, currently plays in France), who plays in the French NM1 (third division) was not able to help JA Vichy (4-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Tshomba's good performance JA Vichy was badly defeated 75-56 on the road by the higher-ranked Orchesien BC (#4).
He was the second best scorer with 11 points.
Tshomba has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.3spg.

M.Hainaut toppled Leuven on the road and advanced into the Ehtias League semifials. The game without a history. Belfius Mons-Hainaut led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Belfius Mons-Hainaut led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Leuven Bears' 24. Belfius Mons-Hainaut had a 25-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Belfius Mons-Hainaut especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Josh Bostic (196-87, college: Findlay, OH) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. The other American import guard Quincy Taylor (196-82, college: UAB) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized American forward Ian Hanavan (202-80, college: Evansville, agency: Interperformances) produced 15 points and American swingman Bradford Burgess (198-90, college: VCU, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Okapi Aalstar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 34-of-38 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game, while Antwerp Giants only scored sixteen points from the stripe. Antwerp Giants were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). The other American import guard Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider) contributed with 26 points for the winners. The former international guard Roel Moors (190-78) replied with 25 points and American point guard Timothy Black (178-81, college: Barton, NC) added 20 points in the effort for Antwerp Giants. Royal Aera Excelsior Brussels (Division II) inked 22-year old American forward Brandon Ubel (208-106kg-91). He just graduated from Nebraska (NCAA). In 31 games he recorded 11.5ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.6apg this season. The last season Ubel also at the University of Nebraska in Big Ten Conference in the NCAA. In 30 games he averaged 6.7ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.3apg.

Ubel received Big 12 All-Academic 1st Team award in 2011 at his college time.

Leuven Bears secured the services of Stephane Moris (207-F/C-86, agency: Promotex) for the next season. The centre spent the last two seasons with Verviers-Pepinster. He averaged 9.9 points, 5.0 rebounds per game in 2012/13 season. Previously Stephane Moris had stints in Switzerland, Germany.
