Division I top team - Belfius Namur (8-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Blue Cats (1-8) 90-59. Belfius Namur dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Cats' 34 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Belfius Namur forced 22 Blue Cats turnovers and outrebounded them 40-28 including 26 on the defensive glass. American swingman Julie Wojta (183-G/F-89, agency: LBM Management, college: Wisc.-Green Bay) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Laurence Van Malderen (192-81, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Bulgarian center Stefka Miteva (190-89) with 21 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Belfius Namur have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record, which they share with Kangoeroes-B. Defending champion Blue Cats dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Houthalen. Belfius Namur is looking forward to face Tulikivi (#10) in Deerlijk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Blue Cats will play at home against Jeugd Gentson and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Charleroi was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Kangoeroes-B. (8-1) played at the court of 6th ranked R.Spirou Monceau (5-4). Kangoeroes-B. managed to secure a 4-point victory 65-61. Canadian-Dutch Janelle Bekkering (181-88, college: Gonzaga) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Dana Boonen accounted for 16 points and 9 rebounds. French forward Chloe Westelynck (188-91) came up with 22 points for R.Spirou Monceau in the defeat. R.Spirou Monceau's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Kangoeroes-B.. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Belfius Namur. R.Spirou Monceau at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Willebroek. Kangoeroes-B. will play against Point Chaud (#5) in Sprimont in the next round.
