#1. This week's number one is an international shooting guard Jonathan Tabu (184-85, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Italy. He could not help Cantu (2-5) in their last game. Despite Tabu's very good performance the sixth-placed Cantu was edged 71-69 at home by the higher-ranked (#4) Panathinaikos in the group A of Euroleague.
He was the second best scorer with 17 points. Tabu also added 8 assists in 28 minutes on the court.
There are only three games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Tabu averages: 7.4ppg, 1.7rpg, 4.0apg, 2FGP: 45.5%, 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 45.5% in the seven games he played so far.
He is currently a member of the Belgian senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international forward Axel Hervelle (205-83, currently plays in Eurocup). Hervelle contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Lukoil Academik (1-2) crushing them 85-64 in the Eurocup last Wednesday.
He scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Gescrap Bizkaia Bilbao Basket (3-0) is placed first in the Eurocup.
So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season.
There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Hervelle is currently fourth on the list of best rebounders.
He has very reliable stats this season: 10.7ppg, 8.0rpg, 2.7apg, 1.7spg, 3FGP: 28.6% and FT: 66.7%.
Hervelle is in the roster of the Belgian senior national team.
#3. The Belgian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Sam Van Rossom (188-86, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to an easy victory against the 16th-ranked Cajasol (1-8) crushing them 86-55 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night.
Van Rossom scored 8 points and added 5 passes in 24 minutes.
CAI Zaragoza (6-3) is placed fifth in the ACB.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
This year Van Rossom's overall stats are: 8.2ppg, 3.2rpg, 2.7apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 64.0%(16-25), 3FGP: 48.1%(13-27) in the nine games.
He is also a member of the Belgian senior national team.
#4. An experienced guard Marcus Faison (196-78, college: Siena, currently plays in EuroChallenge) was not able to help Armia (0-3) in their game against Telekom Baskets (3-0) in the EuroChallenge.
He scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
But Armia (#4) was defeated 75-71 on the road by the leading Telekom Baskets in the group H of EuroChallenge.
So far Armia lost all three games in the Regular Season.
There are only three games left until the end of the EuroChallenge Regular Season. So now every game will be important.
Faison's total stats this season are: 7.0ppg and 3.0rpg.
He is a naturalized American.

#5. Former U20 international swingman Gael Hulsen (193-90, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Liverpool Mersey Tigers (0-11) in their last game. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked Liverpool Mersey Tigers was crushed 86-60 in London by the higher-ranked (#6) Lions.
Hulsen scored 11 points and added 3 passes in 36 minutes.
So far Liverpool Mersey Tigers lost all eleven games in the Regular Season.
But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go.
It's Hulsen's first season with the team.
He has relatively good stats this year: 11.4ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.7apg in the 10 games.
Hulsen used to play for the Belgian U20 national team
three years ago.
#6. Forward Thomas De Thaey (203-91, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the N.Carolina St. in their game against the Oklahoma State University (0-0) in the NCAA.
He recorded 5 points in 15 minutes.
The N.Carolina St. was badly defeated 76-56 in Stillwater, OK by the Oklahoma State University.
This year De Thaey has relatively solid stats: 11.6ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.8apg and 2.4spg in the nine games.
He is U20 international player as he played for the Belgian team one years ago.
The list of other players, who all have Belgian passport but never been selected to any of Belgian national teams:
#1.Tyler Haws (196-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) led BYU to a victory against the Cal State - Northridge 87-75 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game.
Haws recorded 32 points (!!!) and grabbed 6 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!).
The Brigham Young University has conference record this season.
It's Haws' fourth year with the team.
His total stats this year are: 8.2ppg, 3.2rpg, 2.7apg and 1.3spg.
#2. Experienced Ryan Hoover (187-PG-74, agency: SportsTalent, college: Notre Dame, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian Lega2 (second division) could not help Fileni BPA Jesi (3-5) in their last game. Despite Hoover's good performance Fileni BPA Jesi lost 78-83 at home to the league outsider (#15) Upea CdO.
He recorded 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in 34 minutes.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Hoover has relatively good stats this year: 10.8ppg, 4.9rpg, 3.5apg and 1.6spg in the eight games he played so far.
He is a naturalized American.
Strangely Hoover has never played in Belgium.
#3.Ronrico White (190-G-92, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Chattanooga in their last game. Despite White's good performance the Chattanooga (#2) lost 61-68 on their home court in Chattanooga, TN to the Troy University.
He scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 31 minutes.
This year White's total stats are: 7.0ppg and 3.0rpg in the three games.
He is a naturalized American.
Strangely White has never played in Belgium.
#4.Douglas Tshomba (201-F-83, college: Tusculum, currently plays in France) was the major contributor in an overtime JA Vichy's victory against the closely-ranked Blois (6-2) 75-73 in the French NM1 (third division) last Saturday.
He recorded 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
JA Vichy Val d'Allier Auvergne basket (6-4) is placed sixth in the NM1.
But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen.
It's Tshomba's first year with the team.
Tshomba has relatively good stats this season: 11.6ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.4spg.
#5.Christopher Jones (186-G-90, currently plays in Luxembourg), who plays in the Luxembourg Diekirch League was not able to secure a victory for Contern (5-5) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance Contern was defeated 91-79 on the road by the lower-ranked Soleuvre (#8).
Jones scored 14 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 4 assists.
Jones belongs to league's most steals and is ranked #3.
This season he has very good stats: 11.6ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.8apg and 2.4spg.
Jones has a dual citizenship: Belgian and Luxembourg.

Belgium advanced into the title game at the Anwil Basketball Challenge international friendly tournament. Jean Salumu (193-F-90) scored 18 points to lead the Lions. Poland jumped to a 16:13 lead ten minutes into the game. They held Belgium to just 7 points in the second frame to secure a 10-point halftime lead. The teams traded baskets throughout the third quarter as Poland entered the fourth frame by 10 points. But Belgium triggered a decisive 21:8 run in the final ten minutes to snatch the victory. He played most recently at Canton Charge (D-League) in the U.S. In 35 games he recorded 4.5ppg and 6.8rpg last season. Horford helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in Central Division. They also advanced to the league semifinals. He was called during the season by the Milwaukee Bucks. Horford has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2015. His team won Big Ten Regular Season in 2014. Horford has played previously professionally in Dominican Rep. and Dominican Republic (Indios de San Francisco). He attended University of Florida until 2015 and it will be his second season in pro basketball.

It should be a nice occasion for Belgian basketball fans to attend high-level basketball games at the Complexe sportif in Neder-over-Heembeek, in the Brussels area. Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt will most probably come to the Belgian capital with their new German center Daniel Mayr (217-C-95), arriving from Bayern Munich, and their Canadian guard Philip Scrubb (190-G-92), who previously played for AEK Athens. KK Cibona VIP Zagreb, the club of former superstar Drazen Petrovic and many other Yugoslav legends like Kresimir Cosic or Danko Cvjeticanin, should also come to Brussels with an impressive roster, including Zagreb-born Zeljko Sakic (204-F-88, agency: BeoBasket) who just returns from Rio where he played for Croatia in the Olympics as well as Emir Sulejmanovic (204-F/C-95) who has been included on the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior national team this summer.
