Here is the weekly review of the top performing Belgian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international shooting guard Jonathan Tabu (184-85, currently plays in Italy). He led Cantu to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Angelico Biella (3-8) crushing them 85-62 in the Italian SerieA in Sunday night's game. Tabu scored 14 points, grabbed 6 boards, passed 9 assists and added 3 steals in 32 minutes on the court. Mapooro Cantu (7-4) is placed fourth in the SerieA. Tabu has relatively good stats this year: 11.6ppg, 5.2rpg, 4.2apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 51.2%, 3FGP: 47.7%(21-44) and FT: 91.3%(21-23) in the 11 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Belgian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Axel Hervelle (205-83, currently plays in Eurocup). Hervelle contributed to a 1-point Gescrap BB's victory against the closely-ranked Spirou Charleroi 85-84 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. He scored 9 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Gescrap Bizkaia Bilbao Basketis placed third in group J. Hervelle is ranked fourth on the list of the most steals in the league. This season he averages: 9.3ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.2apg, 2.2spg, 3FGP: 33.3%. Hervelle is in the roster of the Belgian senior national team.

   #3. The Belgian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Sam Van Rossom (188-86, currently plays in Spain). He was the major contributor in a CAI Zaragoza's victory against the ninth-ranked Unicaja Malaga (6-6) 82-64 in the Spanish ACB on Saturday night. Van Rossom scored 13 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 27 minutes. CAI Zaragoza (8-4) is placed fifth in the ACB. This year Van Rossom's overall stats are: 9.2ppg, 3.9rpg, 2.9apg, 1.4spg, 3FGP: 52.8%(19-36) and FT: 84.6% in the 12 games. He is also a member of the Belgian senior national team.

   #4. An experienced guard Marcus Faison (196-78, college: Siena, currently plays in Georgia) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Dinamo Tbilisi (4-4) 100-81 in a derby game in the Georgian Superleague last Saturday. Faison scored 10 points and added 4 assists in 15 minutes. BC Armia Tbilisi (6-2) is placed fourth in the Superleague. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Faison's total stats are: 7.6ppg, 2.8rpg and 3.0apg in the eight games. He is a naturalized American. Faison used to play for the Belgian national team last year. He played also for TEC Spirou Charleroi in Belgian league.

   #5. Former U20 international swingman Gael Hulsen (193-90, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL could not help the league outsider Liverpool Mersey Tigers (0-14) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked Liverpool Mersey Tigers was crushed 109-72 on the road by the higher-ranked Glasgow Rocks (#6). Hulsen was the top scorer with 22 points. This season Hulsen has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 2.0rpg and 2.5apg. He used to play for the Belgian U20 national team three years ago.

   #6. Point guard Retin Obasohan (185-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the Alabama in their game against the Virginia Commonwealth University (0-0) in the NCAA. Obasohan cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 1 points. The Alabama was badly defeated 73-54 in Richmond, VA by the Virginia Commonwealth University. Obasohan has averaged so far 9.0ppg and 2.5apg. He is U20 international player who is currently on the Belgian National Team roster.


The list of other players, who all have Belgian passport but never been selected to any of Belgian national teams:

   #1. Tyler Haws (196-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) led BYU to a victory against the Weber State University 78-68 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. Haws recorded 23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!). The Brigham Young University has conference record this season. It's Haws' fourth year with the team. His total stats this year are: 9.2ppg, 3.9rpg, 2.9apg and 1.4spg.

   #2. Douglas Tshomba (201-F-83, college: Tusculum, currently plays in France) led JA Vichy to a victory over the 12th-ranked Chartres (4-8) 73-65 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. Tshomba was MVP of the game. He scored 20 points and added 4 passes. JA Vichy Val d'Allier Auvergne basket (9-4) is placed fourth in the NM1. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. It's Tshomba's first season with the team. This year Tshomba has relatively solid stats: 12.5ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Ronrico White (190-G-92, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Chattanooga (0-1) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Chattanooga (#27) lost 67-80 on the road to the Louisiana State University. White scored 17 points in 28 minutes. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year White has relatively solid stats: 12.5ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.0apg and 1.1spg in the eight games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Strangely White has never played in Belgium.

   #4. Julien Rahier (193-G-83, currently plays in Switzerland) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams BBC Nyon (2-10) crushing them 107-82 in the Swiss LNA on Sunday night. Rahier scored 14 points and added 5 passes in 26 minutes. Starwings Basket Regio Basel (3-9) is placed eighth in the LNA. It's Rahier's first season with the team. He has averaged so far 9.0ppg and 2.5apg in the two games.

   #5. Christopher Jones (186-G-90, currently plays in Luxembourg) was not able to help Contern (6-8) in their game against Musel Pikes (10-1) in the Luxembourg Diekirch League. Jones scored 7 points and added 3 passes in 32 minutes. Contern lost 55-65 at home to the leading Musel Pikes. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Jones' first season with the team. Jones is currently first on the list of most steals with 2.7spg. This year he also averages: 11.6ppg, 5.8rpg and 3.2apg in the 13 games. Jones has a dual citizenship: Belgian and Luxembourg.

Coach coach Eddy Casteels and his staf present in preparation for Eurobasket 2017 (August 31-September 17) that mainly plays abroad. The last week of July there is a camp in Iceland with two games against the host country. On August 5, the Lions practice in Germany. From Germany, it goes straight to Spain. Oxaco - Waregem 77-90 Waregem cruised past Oxaco on the road to open win count in the series. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-77. Waregem made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Forward Thomas Foucart (192-84) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners.
