American guard Ryan Thompson (198-G-89) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Aalstar, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 23-year old player was the main contributor (25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Leuven (#7, 3-7) 98-92. Aalstar maintains the 2nd position in Belgian Ethias League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Aalstar will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. In the team's last game Thompson had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Aalstar's top player in his first season with the team. Former Rider University star has very solid stats this year. Thompson is in league's top in points (2nd best: 18.2ppg), assists (9th best: 3.0apg) and averages impressive 66.7% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 31-year old American Timothy Black (178-PG-81, agency: Limelight Hoops) of Antwerp. Black had a very good evening with 28 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he lead Antwerp to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Verviers-Pep. (#8, 2-7) 102-78. Antwerp's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 5-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Black is one of the most experienced players at Antwerp and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Aalstar's star - Samoan forward John Tofi (203-F/C-84). Tofi scored 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was another key player of Aalstar, helping his team with a 98-92 win against the lower-ranked Leuven (#7, 3-7). Aalstar needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 3 lost games. Tofi has a great season in Belgium. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 6.2rpg (8th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-C/F-87) of Verviers-Pep. - 24 points and 6 rebounds
5. Ivan Aska (200-F-90) of Leuven - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Matt Walsh (197-F/G-82) of Spirou - 17 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Quincy Taylor (196-G-82) of M.Hainaut - 22 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Larry Anderson (195-G-89) of Aalstar - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Dragisa Drobnjak (200-F-77) of Oostende - 16 points and 2 rebounds
10. Wesley Wilkinson (207-PF-84) of Oostende - 7 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
