Here is the weekly review of the top performing Belgian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international center Aleksander Lichodzijewski (202-84, currently plays in Poland). He led Polpharma to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Start Gdynia (4-10) 80-73 in the Polish TBL on Sunday night. Lichodzijewski was MVP of the game. He scored 25 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 31 minutes on the court. SKS Polpharma-Pakmet Starogard Gd. (5-9) is placed eighth in the TBL. It's Lichodzijewski's first season with the team. This year Lichodzijewski averages: 6.7ppg, 4.0rpg, 2FGP: 34.6%, 3FGP: 39.4% and FT: 90.9% in the 10 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Belgian and Polish. Former Sanex Antwerp Giants starter played for the Belgian senior national team four years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Sam Van Rossom (188-86, currently plays in Spain). Van Rossom contributed to a CAI Zaragoza's victory against the closely-ranked Gescrap BB (10-5) 81-74 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. He scored 7 points and added 5 assists. CAI Zaragoza (9-6) is placed sixth in the ACB. Van Rossom's overall stats this season are: 9.2ppg, 3.9rpg, 3.0apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 58.7%(27-46), 3FGP: 45.1%(23-51) and FT: 88.2%. He is in the roster of the Belgian senior national team.

   #3. The Belgian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international shooting guard Jonathan Tabu (184-85, currently plays in Italy). Tabu managed to help Mapooro Cantu in a victory against the ninth-ranked Trenkwalder RE (6-7) crushing them 86-64 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. He recorded 5 points and added 4 assists in 21 minutes. Mapooro Cantu (9-4) is placed fourth in the SerieA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Tabu has relatively good stats this year: 10.6ppg, 4.6rpg, 4.0apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 53.3%, 3FGP: 45.1%(23-51) and FT: 91.3%(21-23) in the 13 games. He is also a member of the Belgian senior national team.

   #4. Forward Axel Hervelle (205-83, currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Sam Van Rossom in the Spanish ACB last game. Hervelle, who plays in the Spanish ACB could not help Gescrap BB (10-5) to beat CAI Zaragoza (9-6). He scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Gescrap BB was defeated 81-74 on the road by the lower-ranked CAI Zaragoza (#6). Hervelle's overall stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.7apg. He is also Belgian national team player.

   #5. Former U20 international swingman Gael Hulsen (193-90, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL was not able to help the league outsider Liverpool Mersey Tigers (0-16) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked Liverpool Mersey Tigers was crushed 96-65 in Manchester by the higher-ranked Giants (#10). Hulsen was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 5 assists. This season Hulsen has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.8apg. He used to play for the Belgian U20 national team three years ago.

   #6. Point guard Retin Obasohan (185-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the Alabama in their game against the Tulane University (0-0) in the NCAA. Obasohan cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 9 minutes on the court. The Alabama was edged 53-50 at home by the Tulane University. Obasohan has reliable stats this year: 11.5ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.8apg in the 15 games. He is U20 international player who is currently on the Belgian National Team roster.


The list of other players, who all have Belgian passport but never been selected to any of Belgian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Ryan Hoover (187-PG-74, agency: SportsTalent, college: Notre Dame, currently plays in Italy) was the major contributor in an overtime Fileni BPA Jesi's victory against the closely-ranked Pall.Trento (5-7) 106-105 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) in Sunday night's game. He recorded 32 points (!!!), 7 assists and 4 steals in 36 minutes. Fileni BPA Jesi (5-7) is placed tenth in the Lega2. Hoover has relatively good stats this year: 12.3ppg, 4.3rpg, 3.2apg and 2.2spg in the 12 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Hoover has never played in Belgium.

   #2. Tyler Haws (196-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) led BYU to an easy victory against the Virginia Tech crushing them 97-71 in the NCAA last Saturday. He recorded 42 points (!!!). The Brigham Young University has conference record this season. It's Haws' fourth year with the team. Haws has relatively good stats this year: 12.3ppg, 4.3rpg, 3.2apg and 2.2spg.

   #3. Ronrico White (190-PG-92, currently studies in the States) led Chattanooga to a victory against the High Point University 68-61 in the NCAA in Friday night's game. White scored 21 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 35 minutes. The Univ.of Tennessee - Chattanooga has 0-1 conference record this season. This year White's overall stats are: 8.5ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.7apg in the 15 games. He is a naturalized American. Strangely White has never played in Belgium.

Liege lands Louis Hazard - May 24, 2016

betFIRST Liege Basket (Scooore League) tabbed 22-year old forward Louis Hazard (199-94). He moved there from VOO Wolves Verviers-Pepinster (Scooore League) where he played this season. In 30 games he averaged 4.2ppg and 2.1rpg. The last season Hazard played also at VOO Verviers-Pepinster. But in 16 Scooore League games he had just 1.1ppg. Roby Rogiers joins Antwerp - May 24, 2016

Port of Antwerp Giants (Scooore League) agreed terms with 19-year old domestic center Roby Rogiers (203-97, agency: Court Side). He moved there from KBGO Duva in Belgian Top Division I where he played this season. In 18 games he had 13.4ppg and 5.8rpg. Rogiers also spent pre-season at Oostende earlier that year. Aalstar - Brussels 80-67 Aalstar knocked down Brussels to regain the lead in the semifinal series. The game without a history. Okapi Aalstar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists.
