Matt Walsh
30-year old swingman Matt Walsh (197-F/G-82) put on an amazing game in the last round for Spirou and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 12.
He had a double-double of 18 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat M.Hainaut (#2, 8-4) 76-70. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Spirou is placed at 4th position in Belgian league. Spirou is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-5 record. Walsh turned to be Spirou's top player in his first season with the team. University of Florida graduate has very impressive stats this year. Walsh is in league's top in points (5th best: 16.9ppg), assists (5th best: 3.4apg) and averages solid 52.9% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Mario Stojic (198-G/F-80, agency: Interperformances) of top-ranked Oostende. He is Croatian-German swingman in his first season at Oostende. In the last game Stojic recorded impressive 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he lead Oostende to another comfortable win 78-65 over the lower-ranked Antwerp (#6, 6-6) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Oostende to move up to 1st position in the standings. His team has currently 8-4 record. Stojic is a newcomer at Oostende and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to center Chris Ferguson (206-C-89) of Verviers-Pep. (#7). Ferguson showcased his all-around game by recording 14 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Verviers-Pep., leading his team to a 79-77 win against slightly lower-ranked Leuven (#8, 3-9). Verviers-Pep. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-8 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Ferguson he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Ferguson has a very solid season. In 11 games in Belgium he scored 8.9ppg. He also has 4.8rpg, 1.5bpg and FGP: 61.2%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Niels Marnegrave (191-PG-87) of Leuven - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Gerald Robinson (185-PG-89) of Leuven - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Jerime Anderson (187-PG-89) of Verviers-Pep. - 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Larry Anderson (195-G-89) of Aalstar - 17 points and 5 rebounds
8. John Tofi (203-F/C-84) of Aalstar - 7 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Derek Raivio (190-G-84) of Aalstar - 24 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-C/F-87) of Verviers-Pep. - 21 points and 6 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
