Elias Lasisi
Sint-Jan Antwerp vs. CEP Fleurus: 93-80

This game was eventually played last Friday. Senne Geukens (190-G-83) who scored 24 points for Sint-Jan definitely deserves the MVP honorary title in this game. Also to be mentioned: the great start by Sint-Jan's center Bram Raes (211-C-86) in the first quarter (rebound and defense). Although the final score seems largely in favour of the Jantjes, CEP F reacted rather well after the desillusion of the previous weekend against Point Chaud Sprimont. Kevin Jonniaux (198-G-83) played well (not necessarily in offense but great presence in defense) and young talent Amaury Marion (196-F-91), who had 17 points against the Jantjes, continues to impress observers this season. Free-throw shooting remains a real weakness for CEP Fleurus (15/35 last Friday). The scoreboard showed 83-73 at some point in the last quarter, giving the visitors of coach Paul Vervaeck a last chance to come back, but this was not enough for the CEPmen and their very athletic captain Christian Ilongo (194-F-85, agency: Promotex) to get over their tenacious hosts. Thanks to Friday's success at the Arenahal in Deurne, SJBA of coach Steve Cornelis is currently recording a series of five wins in a row in the Division II competition.
Score evolution: 27-16, 51-36, 76-57 and 93-80.
Best scorers:
Sint-Jan: B. Hartshorne 13, M. Goethaert 2, V. Verbeecke 6, B. Raes 8, N. El Khounchar 15, A. Druwez 2, S. Geukens 24, L. Anthonis 2, V. Kesteloot 12, P. Smulders 5, M. Brown 4.
CEP F: A. Marion 17, K. Jonniaux 8, C. Manzanza 6, L. Pourtoit 14, T. Bauwens 5, L. Hazard 9, S. Muric 4, C. Ilongo 17.

Point Chaud Sprimont vs. BasKet Tongeren: 62-56

After 38 minutes, the scoreboard showed 51-56 for the Limburgers. Again, Point Chaud Sprimont of Eurobasket.com All-Belgian Division II Co-Coach of the Year 2012 Pascal Horrion began in slow motion (only 8 points in the first quarter!) but reacted well afterwards. Despite many efforts by BK Tongeren's Peter Pipeleers (202-F/C-80) who was in foul trouble in the third quarter already and Martijn Hendrix (183-G-86), the last 11-0 run for the Greens of Sprimont was a decisive one. Just like last week against CEP Fleurus, Gaetan Hertay (195-F-88) was again pretty efficient in offense for Point Chaud Sprimont.
Score evolution: 8-15, 26-30, 45-47 and 62-56.
Best scorers:
PC Sprimont: F. Manset 4, F. Delsaute 8, J.-B. Thome 15, G. Vrancken 13, J. Flagothier 8, G. Hertay 17, G. Donnay 7.
BK Tongeren: J. Van Hoecke 3, M. Hendrix 12, K. Doukmani 6, J. Delva 12, P. Pipeleers 13, H. Baert 3, D. Dillen 7.

Gent Dragons vs. BBC Haantjes Oudenaarde: 64-63

After a well-balanced first quarter, the Haantjes earned a larger lead in the second quarter (21-31). Thomas Van De Vondel (194-F/G-80) and Faycal Lait (190-G-88, agency: Promotex) reacted well for the Dragons and the half was reached with 33-33 showing on the scoreboard. A sparse attendance attended this derby at the Tolhuis in Ghent. Haantjes' new coach Guy Decleer was happy to see his big guy Mikhail Linskens (213-C-87, agency: R.H.Consultancy, college: Wyoming) working hard in the paint. Linskens made 7/13 in field goals and 2/2 from the line. Nevertheless, the Dragons were ahead (54-49) at the end of the third quarter. Experienced player Maarten Brysse (205-C-86) scored 6 points for the visitors in the last three minutes of the game and it remained a thriller until the end (62-61 and 64-63). At 64-63 (with ten seconds remaining in the last quarter), BBC Oudenaarde's player Jean Salumu (193-F-90) missed the last play and the Dragons eventually won their second win in a row. The Dragons of coach Kris De Pauw definitely remain Division II play-off candidates.
Score evolution: 16-14, 33-33, 54-49 and 64-63.
Best scorers:
Dragons: J Jones 4, B. Heinle 7, R. Spaens 12, F. Lait 10, T. Van De Vondel 16, M. Van Gelder 5, L. Enobakhare 8, C. Tshimuanga 2.
Haantjes: M. Linskens 16, M. Brysse 12, L. Lhote 11, J. Salumu 9, G. Mestdag 6, J. Bourdeaux 5, G. De Lepeleire 2, F. Moerman 2.

Bent Schoenen Waregem vs. Port of Antwerp Giants II: 84-60

Despite the fact that the young Giants of Luc Smout came closer at -3 just before half-time, this game was rather easy for the hosts. We learned this week (source: http://basketwaregem.skynetblogs.be/) that Sven Declercq will stay as head coach of Bent Schoenen Waregem until May 2015.
Score evolution: 23-9, 39-36, 60-45 and 84-60.

Kangoeroes Boom vs. Sint-Niklase Condors: 65-68

This is the second loss in a row for the Kangoeroes in this crazy competition. In Division II, Kabo of coach Tom Poppe now shares first rank with Cuva Houthalen. Condors' scorer Elias Lasisi (192-G/F-92, agency: Court Side) was the MVP of the game. Kangoeroes' star Dieter Souveryns (193-F/G-83) missed a three-point attempt with a few seconds left on the clock. Elias Lasisi (double affiliation with the Condors and Ethias League's team Stella Artois Leuven Bears) had an extra chance on the other side of the court and nailed a crucial shot from long range on the buzzer to fix the score at 65-68. Special mention to another young Belgian talent this week: Arno Mollekens (195-PF-94) who converted a few attempts at the right time (6 points) and had some nice defensive plays for the losing side. Excelsior Brussels vs. Belfius Mons-Hainaut II: 72-77

Excelsior Brussels started very well. The scoreboard showed 13-4 after 5 minutes. The biggest lead for the hosts, with very efficient Excelsior shooters Jeroen Van Haevermaet (192-SG-86) and Maxime Depuydt (192-F-92), was reached at 27-13 after 11 minutes in the game. The Brussels' team was suddenly outscored 0-16. The young Foxes of Mons-Hainaut were in front at the half. Lorenzo Giancaterino (190-F/G-90), also gaining some playing time with the Belfius Mons-Hainaut A team in Ethias League, had showed the way for the visitors. Nevertheless, Maxime Depuydt again and his mate Joris De Schepper (187-G/F-83) hit shots from long range. It was 44-44 after 25 minutes. Under the lead of Emmanuel Lecomte (175-G-95), the Foxes digged a large gap and the score reached 53-68 after 36 minutes for the guests. Amaury Gorgemans (211-C-92) also took part in the visitors' big plays and hit a three-pointer at the right moment to help his team reach +15. Last efforts by Maxime Depuydt and Nick Verrept (192-SF-80) allowed Excelsior to come back at 70-74 with 25 seconds left in the last quarter. The young players of Belfius coach Patrick Verdun remained calm and deserved the win. Final score 72-77. There is some good news for Excelsior anyway: Emmanuel Mampuya (200-F/C-79, agency: Promotex), Stephane Pelle (205-C/F-80, college: Colorado) and Jonathan Kabangu (191-F-87) have played a few minutes and could be fully back from injury in the weeks to come. On the other hand, Randy Oveneke (201-F-86), recently hired by the Brussels club, was missing for Excelsior last weekend.
Score evolution: 25-13, 33-35, 47-57 and 72-77.
Best scorers:
Excelsior: E. Mampuya 4, X. Collette 2, N. Verrept 15, M. Depuydt 22, J. Van Haevermaet 8, G. De Pooter 9, J. De Schepper 10, S. Semijejero 2.
Mons-Hainaut II: L. Giancaterino 24, E. Lecomte 22, G. Vlamynck 2, L. Schwartz 11, D. Walasiak 2, M. Renard 2, A. Gorgemans 7, K. Tumba 7.

Cuva Houthalen vs. Essor Charleroi (Spirou B): 94-60

Odell Hodge (204-C/F-73, college: ODU) scored 15 points for Cuva. His team easily won the game against the young Spirou squad last Sunday. Therefore, Cuva Houthalen of coach Brian Lynch becomes co-leader (joining Kangoeroes Boom) in the Division II competition.
Score at the half: 47-34.
