  follow us on Facebook Twitter

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Belgian players, who play currently abroad.

Kathy Wambe
Kathy Wambe
#1. This week's number one is former international guard Kathy Wambe (176-81, currently plays in Italy). She contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Parma (9-3) crushing them 84-62 in the Italian A1 in Sunday night's game. Wambe scored 6 points, grabbed 8 boards, dished 10 assists and stole 3 balls in 33 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Famila Wuber Schio (11-1) is placed first in the A1. It was her team's 11th consecutive victory in a row. It's Wambe's first season with the team. Wambe is the league's best passer with 4.0apg. She also averaged so far 6.5ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.1spg, 2FGP: 38.9% and FT: 62.2% in the 10 games she played so far. Wambe played for the Belgian senior national team three years ago.

Ann Wauters
Ann Wauters
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international center Ann Wauters (194-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Euroleague). She led her Turkish team Galatasaray to a victory against the sixth-ranked Perfumerias Avenida (3-7) 68-56 in the Euroleague last Wednesday. Wauters scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul (9-2) is placed second in group C. Her team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Wauters has relatively good stats this season: 11.3ppg, 6.1rpg, 2FGP: 45.0% and FT: 74.3%. She played for the Belgian national team in 2010.

Anke De Mondt
Anke De Mondt
#3. The Belgian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international swingman Anke De Mondt (175-79, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Poland. De Mondt could not help Wisla Can-Pak (5-5) in their last game. Despite her good performance the fourth-placed Wisla Can-Pak was crushed 89-63 on the road by the leading Spartak Vidnoye in the group A of Euroleague. De Mondt was the second best scorer with 11 points in 38 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year De Mondt averages: 8.1ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.4apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 43.8%, 3FGP: 29.3% and FT: 75.0% in the 10 games. She is also a member of the Belgian senior national team.

#4. Power forward Evelien Callens (188-84, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to help VS Praha (10-9) in their game against USK Praha (10-13) in the Czech Republic ZBL. Despite her good performance in Saturday night's game Callens was the top scorer with 11 points. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Callens' overall stats this season are: 8.3ppg and 4.3rpg. She is also Belgian national team player.

International center Emma Meesseman (192-93, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Villeneuve D'Ascq (6-11) in their game against Lattes Montpellier (15-2) in the French LFB, despite her very good performance last Sunday. Meesseman scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 33 minutes. But Villeneuve D'Ascq was badly defeated 79-62 in Lattes by the leading Montpellier. They ended the series of three consecutive victories. This year Meesseman has relatively solid stats: 12.0ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.8apg in the 11 games. She plays currently for the Belgian national team.
