Eskens
Excelsior Brussels vs. BasKet Tongeren: 89-90 (after OT)

It was a real thriller in Neder-over-Hembeek (a suburb of Brussels) last Sunday... Fans had to hold on to their hat for a great finish in this game. Despite a great presence of Excelsior's Emmanuel Mampuya (200-F/C-79, agency: Promotex), Maxime Depuydt (192-F-92) and Kanefu "Sam" Semijejero (195-PF-77) in rebounding, stealing and scoring, BasKet Tongeren's experienced players like Peter Pipeleers (202-F/C-80), Herbert Baert (204-F-75) and Jeroen Eskens (190-G-81) made the difference in the crucial moments of the game. The visitors could have concluded the game sooner with a win if Martijn Hendrix (183-G-86) had not missed a lay-up on the final buzzer, when the scoreboard showed 81-81. The overtime started well for BK Tongeren but Excelsior Brussels came back into the race at 89-88 with only 28 seconds remaining on the clock. A steal and a last shot hit by former Ethias League player Jeroen Eskens allowed the visitors to enjoy an unexpected triumph away. Excelsior is still in the race for the play-offs but has lost some crucial points lately. Excelsior's injured player Randy Oveneke (201-F-86) should be back in action next week.
Score evolution: 20-22, 42-41, 66-60, 81-81 and 89-90.
Best scorers:
Excelsior: E. Mampuya 12, X. Collette 11, N. Verrept 4, M. Depuydt 11, J. Van Haevermaet 16, G. De Pooter 11, J. De Schepper 8, S. Pelle 2, S. Semijejero 14.
BK Tongeren: J. Van Hoecke 8, M. Hendrix 14, K. Doukmani 9, J. Delva 8, P. Pipeleers 15, H. Baert 16, J. Eskens 20.

Cuva Houthalen vs. Sint-Niklase Condors: 82-68

Cuva Houthalen wins the game with a rather good margin against the Klaasjes and remain in the run for the play-offs. Young talents Hans Vanwijn (197-F-95) and Glenn Camps (201-F/C-95) were missing on the Cuva side. Both represent Belgium at the Nike Junior International Tournament in Lithuania. Free video highlights of the Cuva vs. Condors game on TVL.be: http://www.tvl.be/nl/sport/recente-afleveringen/2013-01-27/cuva-houthalen-sint-niklaas-2013-01-27/#.UQWdRr-qnul.

BBC Haantjes Oudenaarde vs. Port of Antwerp Giants II: 71-79

The Haantjes welcomed the last ranked team of the competition. Before the game, the local press had mentioned that the Haantjes could not lose that game otherwise it would have been a tricky situation for them. Luc Smout and his Giants II have eventually recorded their second win of the season.

Bent Schoenen Waregem vs. CEP Fleurus: 67-61

The visitors were ahead until early in the fourth quarter. With their great duo of brothers Thomas Foucart (195-F-84) and Olivier Foucart (195-G-84), the home team took the lead with 6:29 remaining in the fourth quarter (48-46). On one hand, Ludovic Pourtoit (182-G-88) was disappointing and Amaury Marion (196-F-91) did not score for CEP F last Sunday. On the other hand, Kevin Jonniaux (198-G-83) had a very good second half and Thomas Bauwens (192-F-86) looked particularly fit and well in offense through the whole game for the Yellows. It did not help and the men of coach Sven Declercq finished on top after 40 minutes. Special mention to double-affiliated player Arne Steinbach (182-PG-92, agency: Court Side) who played well with Okapi Aalstar on Friday night and scored 11 points with BS Waregem on Sunday afternoon.
Score evolution: 15-21, 24-28, 40-43 and 67-61.
Best scorers:
BS Waregem: A. Steinbach 11, Destadsbader 4, B. Samaey 6, O. Foucart 11, T. Foucart 24, S. Dhondt 7, A. Gueye 4.
CEP F: K. Jonniaux 9, C. Manzanza 4, T. Bauwens 18, L. Hazard 6, S. Muric 8, C. Ilongo 16.

Gent Dragons vs. Befius Mons Hainaut II : 71-67

So far, the Dragons have played only home games at the Tolhuis in 2013. They hosted Belfius Mons Hainaut II and had a hard time to get rid of the young Foxes led by Loic Schwartz (195-G/F-92) who scored 23 points last Saturday. After a good start at 13-4, the Dragons of coach Kris De Pauw could not avoid a very convincing 0-16 run by the Foxes. Faycal Lait (190-G-88, agency: Promotex) was a key player for the Dragons, especially when he hit a three-pointer on the buzzer at the end of the third quarter to make 47-44. A good defense in the last seconds of the game helped the Dragons keep a small advantage at the end. Final score: 71-67.
Score evolution: 23-23, 34-35, 47-44 and 71-67.
Best scorers:
Dragons: B. Heinle 8, R. Spaens 5, F. Lait 15, T. Van De Vondel 14, M. Van Gelder 16, L. Enobakhare 6, C. Tshimuanga 7.
Mons Hainaut II: E. Lecomte 14, G. Vlamynck 3, L. Schwartz 23, D. Walasiak 8, M. Renard 7, K. Tumba 12.

Sint-Jan Antwerp vs. Essor Charleroi (Spirou B): 100-51

Thanks to an efficient full court press concluded with spectacular plays, the Jantjes of coach Steve Cornelis gave no chance to the young Spirou team of coach Pascal Angilis. Free video highlights of the game on www.atv.be (in Dutch): http://www.atv.be/item/sint-jan-op-kop-na-zevende-overwinning. After seven wins in a row, Sint-Jan has now taken the lead in the Division II competition. Although the whole home team played well, one man deserves a special mention on the SJBA side: Mario Brown (202-F-84, college: Jacksonville) who was particularly proactive at the rebound and in scoring.
Score evolution: 28-10, 53-23, 72-37 and 100-51.
Best scorers:
Sint-Jan: V. Haerbos 11, B. Hartshorne 2, V. Verbeeck 11, B. Raes 4, N. El Khounchar 9, A. Druwez 17, S. Geukens 21, L. Anthonis 2, P. Smulders 4, M. Brown 21.
Essor: Y. Siegwarth 10, T. Lefevre 5, N. Jankovic 12, J. Stas 5, M. Fusek 4, B. Penninck 5, J. Charles 2, M. Steenberghs 4, A. Eyenga 4.

Point Chaud Sprimont vs. Gembo BBC: 77-105

The Gembo guys took a large lead only in the third quarter. Thomas Goethaert (183-G-83) was particularly efficient for Gembo in the last minutes of the game. He scored the 100th point of his team and deserves a special mention this week. Again a good performance in offense for Gaetan Hertay (195-F-88) on the losing side. Free video highlights of this game on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoI4rnbJQKQ&list=UUoSEPiDqNhOjhQW7eAC-isQ&index=4.
Score evolution: 24-24, 40-44, 60-80 and 77-105.
Best scorers:
PC Sprimont: F. Manset 3, F. Delsaute 13, J.-B. Thome 7, G. Vrancken 14, A. Bousmanne 3, F. Forthomme 5, G. Hertay 20, R. Delhaye 2, G. Donnay 10.

Top Division I Round 24: Royal Brussels beat Soba by one after a very close game - 5 days ago
The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. The most exciting game of round 24 in the Top Division I took place in Brussels. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Soba (12-11) to eighth ranked Royal Brussels (10-13) 52-51 on Sunday evening. He had a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Limburg United (#6, 12-13) 98-91. Kangoeroes maintains the 4th position in Belgian league.
