Matt Walsh
30-year old swingman Matt Walsh (197-F/G-82) had a very impressive game in the last round for Spirou and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 15.
He had a double-double of 34 points and 17 rebounds, while his team was edged out by Aalstar (#3, 9-6) 100-97. Spirou moved-up to the 5th position in the Belgian league. Spirou is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 6th lost game this season out of 13 games. In the team's last game Walsh had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Spirou's top player in his first season with the team. University of Florida graduate has very impressive stats this year. Walsh is league's best scorer averaging so far 18.8ppg and leads league in rebounds with 9.8rpg. Walsh is in league's top in assists (5th best: 3.8apg) and averages solid 57.8% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Gerald Robinson (185-PG-89) of Leuven. He is American guard in his first season at Leuven. In the last game Robinson recorded impressive 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course Leuven cruised to a 84-76 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Liege (#6, 6-9). Leuven's 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-9 record. Robinson is a newcomer at Leuven and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.0ppg (#5).

Third place about best performers goes to guard Ryan Thompson (198-G-89) of Aalstar (#3). Thompson scored 25 points and passed seven assists. He was a key player of Aalstar, leading his team to a 100-97 win against slightly lower-ranked Spirou (#5, 7-6). Aalstar needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 6 lost games. Thompson has a great season in Belgium. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.6ppg (3rd best) and assists with 3.4apg (6th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Wesley Wilkinson (207-PF-84) of Oostende - 20 points and 7 rebounds
5. Christopher Young (206-F/C-79) of Aalstar - 16 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
6. John Tofi (203-F/C-84) of Aalstar - 19 points and 7 rebounds
7. Dusan Djordjevic (195-G-83) of Oostende - 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Ian Hanavan (202-F-80) of Leuven - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Dragisa Drobnjak (200-F-77) of Oostende - 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Jerome Randle (178-PG-87) of Spirou - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
