30-year old guard Mia Fisher (175-G-82) put on an amazing game in the last round for Castors Braine and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17. She had the game-high 32 points adding two rebounds and three assists for Castors Braine in her team's victory, helping them to beat Waregem (#3, 12-4) 79-69. Castors Braine maintains the 6th position in Belgian Division I. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Castors Braine will need more victories to improve their 10-7 record. Fisher turned to be Castors Braine's top player in her first season with the team. Univ. of California-Santa Barbara graduate has very impressive stats this year. Fisher is in league's top in points (3rd best: 18.0ppg), assists (2nd best: 3.4apg) and averages solid 2.5spg and 62.2% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Julie Wojta (183-G/F-89, agency: LBM Management) of league's second-best Belfius Namur. She is American swingman in her first season at Belfius Namur. In the last game Wojta recorded impressive 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course she lead Belfius Namur to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Blue Cats (#11, 2-14) 74-53. Belfius Namur's second position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost just two games this season, while they won 14 matches. Wojta is a newcomer at Belfius Namur and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.7ppg (#7). She also registered 10.9 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to center Erica Davis (191-C-85, agency: LBM Management) of Point Chaud (#5). Davis scored 26 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Point Chaud, leading her team to a 83-69 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Willebroek (#7, 6-10). Point Chaud needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 5 lost games. Davis has a great season in Belgium. After 16 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.2ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 12.1rpg (#1 in league).

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. Last year Declercq Stortbeton Waregem announced signing of Maja Vucurovic ,The Belgian team inked a deal with young Serbian forward Maja Vucurovic .The 22-year-old player finished 2011 season with Romanian BCT Alexandria. She joined them in January registering 13.9 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.1 apg and 1.3 spg for 17 games. Vucurovic started the season with Spanish Celta Vigo, but did not appear in any official game with them. Maja Vucurovic won the Polish league title a year ago with TS Wisla Can-Pack Krakow. She had limited playing time, but did a good job for the minutes she was getting. Vucurovic played for Wisla also in 2009/10 and they reached Euroleague Semifinals. In the past, Vucurovic successfully played for Serbian youth National Teams. In 2012-2013 for Declercq Stortbeton Waregem she averaged 10.9 points per game.
