Sixth-ranked Liege Basket (6-10) gave a tough game to first ranked Base Oostende (12-4) on Friday. The visitors from Oostende managed to secure only seven-point victory 84-77. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of Matt Lojeski who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds. Base Oostende's coach Dario Gjergja used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Base Oostende have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-4 record. Liege Basket lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Base Oostende will face Spirou Charleroi (#4) on the road in the next round. Liege Basket will play against the league's second-placed Belfius Mons-Hainaut in Quaregnon.

Aalstar - Antwerp 75-57

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Antwerp Giants (8-8) were defeated on the road by third ranked Okapi Aalstar (10-6) 75-57 on Saturday. The game without a history. Okapi Aalstar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. At the losing side international forward Jean-Marc Mwema (195-89, agency: Court Side) responded with 9 points and 9 rebounds and American power forward Jason Love (206-87, college: Xavier) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Okapi Aalstar moved-up to second place, which they share with M.Hainaut. Antwerp Giants at the other side keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Okapi Aalstar will face Leuven Bears (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Antwerp Giants will play against VOO Verviers-Pepinster.

Very predictable result in Quaregnon where second ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (10-6) defeated 7th ranked Leuven Bears (5-10) 89-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Belfius Mons-Hainaut. Leuven Bears was better in second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Leuven Bears 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Quincy Taylor (196-82, college: UAB) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Josh Bostic (196-87, college: Findlay, OH) who added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Belfius Mons-Hainaut players scored in double figures. Belfius Mons-Hainaut's coach Yves Defraigne used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American point guard Gerald Robinson (185-89, college: Georgia) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (200-90, college: Murray St.) scored 21 points. Belfius Mons-Hainaut maintains second position with 10-6 record having just two points less than leader Oostende, which they share with Aalstar. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime then Liege Basket managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Base Oostende who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-7. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Matt Lojeski (198-85, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import Wesley Wilkinson (207-84, college: Nebraska) who added 18 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (3-12) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Spirou Charleroi (8-6) 79-67 on Friday. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 12 points. Spirou Charleroi forced 24 VOO Verviers-Pepinster turnovers. Strangely VOO Verviers-Pepinster outrebounded Spirou Charleroi 37-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Matt Walsh (197-82, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Jerome Randle (178-87, college: California) who added 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. Five Spirou Charleroi players scored in double figures. At the losing side Serbian power forward Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-87) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Stephane Moris (207-86, agency: Promotex) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. John Tofi extends deal with Aalstar - May 25, 2016

Aalstar and John Tofi(203-C/F-84, college: UTEP, agency: Pensack Sports) agreed on terms of contract renewal. The centre has penned a new two-year deal with the team. John Tofi tallied 15.7 points, 7.2 rebounds per game last season. John Tofi has been playing for Aalstar since 2012. Previously he had stints with Leuven and Pepinster.   [read more]

21-year old domestic international forward Vincent Kesteloot (201-95, agency: Priority Sports) left Crelan Okapi Aalstar (Scooore League). In 32 games he had 8.5ppg and 2.6rpg this season.
