Matt Lojeski
American guard Matt Lojeski (198-G-85) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Oostende, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Liege (#6, 6-10) in overtime 84-77. It allowed Oostende to consolidate first place in the Belgian Ethias League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Oostende has a very solid 12-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Lojeski has many years of experience at Oostende, through which he has constantly improved. Former University of Hawaii star has very solid stats this year. Lojeski is in league's top in points (5th best: 16.2ppg) and averages impressive 58.5% FGP and 42.2% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old American Ryan Thompson (198-G-89) of Aalstar. Thompson had a very good evening with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he lead Aalstar to another comfortable win 75-57 over slightly lower-ranked Antwerp (#5, 8-8) being unquestionably team leader. Aalstar's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 10-6 record is not bad at all. Thompson is a newcomer at Aalstar, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.6ppg (#2). He also recorded 3.4 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American swingman Matt Walsh (197-F/G-82) of Spirou (#4). Walsh scored 21 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Spirou, leading his team to a 79-67 win against the lower-ranked Verviers-Pep. (#8, 3-12). Spirou needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 6 lost games. Walsh has a great season in Belgium. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.0ppg (best scorer), rebounds with 9.9rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 3.6apg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Quincy Taylor (196-G-82) of M.Hainaut - 14 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Wen Boss Mukubu (198-F-83) of Liege - 8 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Jerome Randle (178-PG-87) of Spirou - 17 points and 4 assists
7. Gerald Robinson (185-PG-89) of Leuven - 20 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Wesley Wilkinson (207-PF-84) of Oostende - 18 points and 11 rebounds
9. Ivan Aska (200-F-90) of Leuven - 21 points and 3 rebounds
10. Mario Stojic (198-G/F-80) of Oostende - 11 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

ESSM Le Portel Cote d'Opale (ProA) agreed terms with 25-year old Belgian international swingman Elias Lasisi (192-92). Belgian Top Division I round 22 best performance: Francois Lhoest (by Court Side) - 5 days ago
Former international Power forward Francois Lhoest (196-F/C-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for Ninane, receiving a Court Side Top Division I Player of the Week award for round 22. The 31-year old player had a double-double of 27 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Ieper (#11, 8-13) 94-87. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Ninane is placed at 10th position in Belgian Top Division I. Ninane is rather...   [read more]
