  follow us on Facebook Twitter

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Belgians who are currently playing abroad.

Axel Hervelle
Axel Hervelle
#1. This week's number one is an international forward Axel Hervelle (205-83, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He could not help Gescrap BB (12-8) in their last game. Despite Hervelle's very good performance Gescrap BB was badly defeated 94-74 at home by the leading Real Madrid. He was the top scorer with 21 points. Hervelle also added 5 rebounds in 30 minutes on the court. This year Hervelle averages: 8.9ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.1apg, 2FGP: 60.5%(72-119), 3FGP: 18.2% and FT: 82.4% in the 20 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Belgian senior national team.

Jonathan Tabu
Jonathan Tabu
#2. Second place goes to an international point guard Jonathan Tabu (190-85, currently plays in Italy). Tabu was the major contributor in Cantu's victory against the closely-ranked Banco di Sardegna Sassari (14-4) 94-80 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. He scored 15 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 5 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Mapooro Cantu (12-6) is placed fourth in the SerieA. It's Tabu's first season with the team. Tabu has relatively good stats this year: 11.1ppg, 4.7rpg, 4.3apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 48.5%, 3FGP: 44.4% and FT: 87.1%. He is in the roster of the Belgian senior national team.

Sam Van Rossom
Sam Van Rossom
#3. The Belgian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Sam Van Rossom (188-86, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He was not able to help CAI Zaragoza (11-9) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Van Rossom's good performance CAI Zaragoza was defeated 82-77 on their home court in Zaragoza by the lower-ranked Asefa Estudiantes (#8). He scored 11 points and added 6 passes. Van Rossom's overall stats this season are: 9.2ppg, 3.5rpg, 3.2apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 57.6%(34-59), 3FGP: 42.9% and FT: 86.2%. He is also a member of the Belgian senior national team.

Gael Hulsen
Gael Hulsen
#4. Swingman Gael Hulsen (193-90, agency: LBM Management, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Liverpool Mersey Tigers (0-22) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked Liverpool Mersey Tigers was crushed 97-58 on the road by the much higher-ranked Glasgow Rocks (#3). Hulsen was the second best scorer with 12 points. This season Hulsen has relatively solid stats: 11.7ppg, 2.1rpg and 3.1apg. He used to play for the Belgian U20 national team back in 2009.

The list of other players, who all have Belgian passport but never been selected to any of Belgian national teams:

#1. Tyler Haws (196-G, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the BYU (8-4) in their last game. Despite Haws' very good performance the BYU lost 68-74 on the road to the University of San Diego. He scored 27 points (!!!) and had 3 steals in 40 minutes. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Haws is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in BYU's roster. This season Haws has relatively solid stats: 11.1ppg, 4.7rpg, 4.3apg and 1.1spg in the 18 games he played so far.

#2. Ronrico White (190-PG-92, currently studies in the States) led Chattanooga to a victory against the The Citadel (3-10) 89-76 in the NCAA last Thursday. White scored 19 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line) in 29 minutes. The Univ.of Tennessee - Chattanooga has 4-7 conference record this season. This year White's overall stats are: 9.2ppg, 3.5rpg, 3.2apg and 1.1spg in the 20 games. He is a naturalized American. Strangely White has never played in Belgium.

#3. Douglas Tshomba (201-F-83, college: Tusculum, currently plays in France) contributed to a JA Vichy's victory against the fifth-ranked Cognac (12-6) 85-71 in the French NM1 (third division) on Saturday night. He scored 20 points. JA Vichy Val d'Allier Auvergne basket (15-4) is placed first in the NM1. It was his team's 11th consecutive victory in a row. This season Tshomba has relatively solid stats: 11.6ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.0apg.

#4. Julien Rahier (193-G-83, currently plays in Switzerland) was the major contributor in Starwings' victory against the closely-ranked Boncourt (6-12) crushing them 86-64 in the Swiss LNA in Wednesday night's game. He scored 16 points in 26 minutes. Starwings Basket Regio Basel (5-13) is placed eighth in the LNA. The Regular Season already ended. This year Rahier's overall stats are: 10.0ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.7apg in the seven games.

#5. Experienced Ryan Hoover (187-PG-74, agency: SportsTalent, college: Notre Dame, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Fileni BPA Jesi (6-11) in their game against Biancoblu BO (10-7) in the Italian Lega2 (second division). Hoover cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 18 minutes. Fileni BPA Jesi was crushed 90-62 in Bologna by the much higher-ranked (#5) Biancoblu BO. Hoover has reliable stats this year: 11.5ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.8apg and 1.9spg in the 17 games. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Hoover has never played in Belgium.
