Derek Raivio
American Derek Raivio (190-SG-84) put on an amazing game in the last round for Aalstar and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 28-year old shooting guard had the game-high 34 points adding four rebounds and six assists for Aalstar in his team's victory, helping them to crush Leuven (#7, 5-11) with 21-point margin 89-68. Aalstar is placed at 3rd position in Belgian Ethias League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Aalstar will need more victories to improve their 11-6 record. In the team's last game Raivio had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be Aalstar's top player in his first season with the team. Gonzaga University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Raivio is in league's top in points (7th best: 16.0ppg), assists (7th best: 3.5apg) and averages solid 54.4% FGP and 44.8% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old American guard Matt Lojeski (198-G-85) of league's best team Oostende. Lojeski impressed basketball fans with 26 points and 4 rebounds. Bad luck as Oostende lost that game 65-77 to the lower-ranked Spirou (#4, 10-6). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Oostende still maintains its place as the top team in the standings, even despite this loss. His team has currently 12-5 record. Lojeski is one of the most experienced players at Oostende and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.9ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 5.1rpg and 3.1apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Bradford Burgess (198-G/F-90, agency: Interperformances) of Leuven (#7). Burgess showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the last round. Despite Burgess' great performance Leuven lost 68-89 to the higher-ranked Aalstar (#3, 11-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Leuven not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Burgess could try to bring Leuven's a little bit higher in the standings. Burgess has a very solid season. In 16 games in Belgium he scored 7.6ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-C/F-87) of Verviers-Pep. - 22 points and 5 rebounds
5. Ryan Thompson (198-G-89) of Aalstar - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists
6. Derrick Allen (203-F-80) of Spirou - 22 points and 9 rebounds
7. Monwell Randle (203-F/C-83) of M.Hainaut - 14 points and 12 rebounds
8. Devin Green (201-G/F-82) of Spirou - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Justin Cage (198-F-85) of M.Hainaut - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Chris Ferguson (206-C-89) of Verviers-Pep. - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
