Niels
Marnegrave
International point guard Niels Marnegrave (191-PG-87) had a great game in the last round for Leuven, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 25-year old player got a double-double of 16 points and 10 assists, while his team crushed Verviers-Pep. (#8, 4-15) with 16-point margin 107-91. Leuven is placed at 6th position in Belgian Ethias League. Leuven is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-12 record. Marnegrave has many years of experience at Leuven, through which he has constantly improved. Niels Marnegrave has solid league stats. He is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 5.3apg) and averages impressive 2.6spg.

The second best player in last round's games was 23-year old American Chris Ferguson (206-C-89) of Verviers-Pep.. Ferguson had a very good evening with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Verviers-Pep. lost that game 91-107 to slightly higher-ranked Leuven (#6, 6-12). Verviers-Pep. are still at the very bottom. 15 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Verviers-Pep. managed to get this year. Ferguson is a newcomer at Verviers-Pep. and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Justin Cage (198-F-85, agency: Priority Sports) of M.Hainaut (#3). Cage scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Cage's great performance M.Hainaut lost 90-94in overtime to #2 ranked Spirou. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing M.Hainaut needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 12 victories and 7 lost games. Cage has a very solid season. In 17 games in Belgium he scored 11.6ppg. He also has 4.2rpg and FGP: 62.4%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Gerald Robinson (185-PG-89) of Leuven - 28 points and 4 assists
5. Yannick Desiron (206-C-92) of Leuven - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Matt Lojeski (198-G-85) of Oostende - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Ryan Thompson (198-G-89) of Aalstar - 20 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Jonathan Wallace (187-G-86) of M.Hainaut - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Derek Raivio (190-SG-84) of Aalstar - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Yannick Moray (199-F-91) of Verviers-Pep. - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Louis Hazard
Liege lands Louis Hazard - May 24, 2016

betFIRST Liege Basket (Scooore League) tabbed 22-year old forward Louis Hazard (199-94). He moved there from VOO Wolves Verviers-Pepinster (Scooore League) where he played this season. In 30 games he averaged 4.2ppg and 2.1rpg. The last season Hazard played also at VOO Verviers-Pepinster. But in 16 Scooore League games he had just 1.1ppg. The previous (13-14) season he played at CEP Fleurus B (Division III). Among other achievements Hazard's team made it to the D2 Semifinals in 2012. He r...   [read more]

Roby Rogiers joins Antwerp - May 24, 2016

Port of Antwerp Giants (Scooore League) agreed terms with 19-year old domestic center Roby Rogiers (203-97, agency: Court Side). He moved there from KBGO Duva in Belgian Top Division I where he played this season. In 18 games he had 13.4ppg and 5.8rpg. Rogiers also spent pre-season at Oostende earlier that year. John Tofi
Scooore League Round 3 of Semi-Finals. Wins for Aalstar and Oostende - May 24, 2016

Aalstar - Brussels 80-67 Aalstar knocked down Brussels to regain the lead in the semifinal series. The game without a history. Okapi Aalstar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 5 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting fr...   [read more]
