Francois
Lhoest
Former international Power forward Francois Lhoest (196-F/C-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for Ninane, receiving a Court Side Top Division I Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 31-year old player had a double-double of 27 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Ieper (#11, 8-13) 94-87. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Ninane is placed at 10th position in Belgian Top Division I. Ninane is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 8-12 record. In the team's last game Lhoest had a remarkable 58.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Ninane, through which he has constantly improved. Francois Lhoest has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 18.8ppg), assists (6th best: 3.3apg) and averages impressive 53.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Sam Hemeleers (180-G-95) of Gistel Oostende. Hemeleers had a very good evening with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led Gistel Oostende to another comfortable win outscoring the higher-ranked Waregem (#2, 15-6) 86-64. This victory allowed Gistel Oostende to leave bottom place moving a little bit up to 13th position in the standings. 15 lost games are too many comparing to just six victories Gistel Oostende managed to get this year. Hemeleers is well-known at Gistel Oostende and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.

Third on the list of top players last round was center Mark De Meyer (194-C-88) of Oxaco (#3). De Meyer scored 21 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Oxaco, leading his team to a 92-68 easy win against the lower-ranked RPC Anderlecht (#12, 6-14). Oxaco needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 6 lost games. De Meyer has a very solid season. In 19 games in Belgium he scored 11.0ppg. He also has 5.5rpg and and 3PT: 42.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Mitchel Gorremans (191-F/G-85) of Soba - 19 points and 12 rebounds
5. Justin Kohajda (203-C-96) of Gistel Oostende - 17 points and 7 rebounds
6. Gilles Dierickx (213-C-92) of Ieper - 21 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Nick Celis (196-G-88) of Oxaco - 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Patrick Hilliman (206-F/C-82) of Melsele - 20 points and 12 rebounds
9. Marius Mwendanga (179-PG-98) of Giants B - 13 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists
10. Jens Bouckaert (PF-91) of Gembo BBC - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Court Side. Court Side is the global leader in basketball management, and is widely regarded as the most dynamic and innovative company of its kind. It was the first Basketball Agency to launch its own website, and the first to have its own database. Court Side has more agents and manpower within its organization, than any other competitor, and its international network of basketball contacts is still unparalleled.
