Prombas AWBB Cup Final played in Libramont on 2017-03-12

Belfius Mons-Hainaut B vs. CEP Fleurus: 62-64

The Belfius Mons-Hainaut B players started rather well and were rather precise from long range in the first minutes of the game. The supporters and basketball fans who travelled to Libramont to attend the AWBB Cup Final did not see a very offensive game between two squads involved in Top Division Men 2. Intensity and athleticism were nevertheless on the menu of this thrilling final of the competition organized by the Wallonia-Brussels Basketball Association. Looking a bit more efficient in the first and second quarters, the young Foxes of Belfius Mons-Hainaut B were on top at the half: 25-21.

CEP Fleurus of Coach Tom Poppe came back from the locker rooms with even more fighting spirit than before and managed to dig a gap at the end of the third quarter: 42-51. Sander Van Caeneghem (209-PF-95) and Simon Buysse (188-G-97) connected well and allowed Belfius Mons-Hainaut B to get closer and closer in the last period. They managed to challenge the CEPmen led by Alex Tuluka-Mfumupembe (193-G/F-89, college: Missouri Western), Modou Pape Mbaye (201-F-94), Moussa Ouattara (202-C/F-88) and Jeremy Steinier (G-95) in the last minutes of the game. Despite the nice comeback, the Foxes had a hard time to block CEP scorer Alex Tuluka who made 62-64. Union Mons-Hainaut B had the last possession but missed the last attempt of the game. CEP Fleurus' key players and their young mates deserved this resounding 62-64 victory. CEP Fleurus wins its second AWBB Cup Final under Coach Tom Poppe .
