There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Top Division I. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Gent Hawks (19-5) in Borgerhout on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Gembo BBC (18-6) 80-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gent Hawks. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Worth to mention a great performance of center Pieter Van-Rillaer (198-81) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Eli Van-Aken (193-85) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Joeri Vermoessen (200-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for Gent Hawks. Gembo BBC have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Oxaco. Gent Hawks at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. Gembo BBC is looking forward to face Waregem (#4) in Waregem in the next round. Gent Hawks will play at home against Soba and are hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Oostende. Eleventh ranked Gistel Oostende (9-15) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 12th ranked Ieper (8-17) 88-87 on Sunday evening. Guard Sam Hemeleers (180-95) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners and Justin Kohajda chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). At the losing side center Gilles Dierickx (213-92, college: Seattle Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gistel Oostende have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Melsele. Ieper lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Gistel Oostende will play against higher ranked Giants B (#8) in Antwerp in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ieper will play at home against RPC Anderlecht (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Thirteenth-ranked RPC Anderlecht (6-17) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Waregem (17-7) on Saturday. The visitors from Waregem managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected much easier game. Lars De-Lepeleire nailed 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Geoffrey Hockins came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds for RPC Anderlecht in the defeat. Waregem maintains fourth place with 17-7 record. RPC Anderlecht lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with 17 games lost. They share it with Ekeren. Waregem will meet at home higher ranked Gembo BBC (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. RPC Anderlecht will play against Ieper (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Soba (12-12) and Ninane (10-14), which took place in Antwerpen. 6th ranked Soba lost at home to ninth ranked Ninane 74-82. Sebastien Maio fired 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Ninane maintains ninth place with 10-14 record. Soba lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Ninane's next round opponent will be Melsele (#10) at home.
The game between 9th ranked Ninane (10-14) and eighth ranked Giants B (11-15) in Ninane on Wednesday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Antwerp beat Ninane 99-82. It was a very good performance for Philippe Peeters who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Giants B's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Giants B maintains eighth place with 11-15 record. Loser Ninane keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Giants B will face Gistel Oostende (#11) at home in the next round. Ninane will play against Melsele and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 25 were not that significant. Royal Brussels beat Ekeren on the road 92-84. Houthalen won against Giants B on its own court 72-62. Oxaco managed to outperform Melsele in Boechout 35-24.
The most impressive performance of 25th round was 21 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists by Francois Lhoest of Ninane.

Gembo BBC - Gent Hawks 80-70

They dominated on the defensive end, holding Giants B to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Houthalen forced 25 Giants B turnovers. It was a very good performance for forward Bart Maesen (198-89) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Chiel Koonings (180-90) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Very predictable result when second ranked Oxaco (18-6) won against on the road 9th ranked Melsele (9-15) 35-24 on Saturday. The game without a history. Oxaco led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a very good performance for guard Nick Celis (196-88) who helped to win the game recording 8 points. Sam Van-Hoey (190-91) contributed with 8 points for the winners. Oxaco's coach Tony van den Bosch used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. New Zealand Breakers (NBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 25-year old American guard D.J. Newbill (193-93kg-92, college: The Pennsylvania State).
